Bruce to replace Sam? By all accounts he was runner up last time. Hard to see that much will have changed in 67 days.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Sep 2016 21:17:01
From bad to worse!

27 Sep 2016 22:44:30
Dunno why they just didn't slap him on wrists, they knew when they hired him how outspoken he is.

27 Sep 2016 23:05:28
If they stay with an Englishman, I think he'll get it, Mulam. Saw him at 15/ 2 today. He was the only other one that really wanted it by all accounts.

27 Sep 2016 23:47:24
I feel sorry for Sam a little. Fair enough what he did was wrong but like I said before I guarantee this happens every year with almost every manager involved in the same scams with crooked businessmen.

I believe if Sam was a Jose Mourinho or a Pep Guardiola the FA would have backed him.

It's actually made a mockery of the English Hierarchy and shows thier lack of due diligence. When was the last time these twats got the right man in when it comes to the England job? I think it's time for a shake up at the top to be honest.

28 Sep 2016 00:45:39
MAZE, sorry, but I heard a lot of apologists for him on the radio today, blaming everyone from the FA for not providing him with advisors to shield him from situations like this, to the media for daring to investigate it. While I'll not listen to any journalists lecturing about right and wrong, I'm a big believer in personal responsibility. It seems it's always someone else's fault these days.

{Ed025's Note - im with you on that noucamp..

28 Sep 2016 04:13:12
NC I agree entirely I just feel the FA have double standards and if this was a Mourinho in charge who did this then he would still be England manager.

He fully deserves what he gets but if all club managers past and present were fully investigated or set up such as Sam then I don't think he would be a lonely figure in this saga.

{Ed041's Note - he is one of the more stupid ones that gets caught.

28 Sep 2016 05:50:19
I was amazed he got the job, he always seemed to have an inflated view if his ability, an old fashioned Manager with old fashioned views. If we stay English then it is a narrow field.

28 Sep 2016 07:34:54
Chris I agree and for that he gets what he deserves.

Tony it will be interesting to see what the FA decide to do. There are a few good options available if they want to go down the non-English path but the FA have got to do something to capture the fans imagination in my view and folk like Bruce and Southgate ain't going to do that.

28 Sep 2016 08:17:55
Bruce will be the new manager.

28 Sep 2016 09:54:56
I love Brucie, but he isn't good enough to manage the national team.

He represents a sideways step, Hodson, Allerdyce, Bruce we aren't moving forward. I'd prefer Southgate or Pierce if we are to stay English, at least they are a bit younger and have half a chance of modernising to national team set up. Eddie Howe would be an interesting shout.

But if that is to happen the FA need to stop with this prioritising commercial aims over footballing ones.

We need to stop giving the job to managers at the end of their careers looking to a golden handshake. We need to give it to a younger hungerier progressive manager who wants to prove a point and make a name for himself.

28 Sep 2016 10:07:14
Howe for me, new start giving youngsters a go and playing good football.
Will be Bruce though, nice guy but hardly an inspiring choice.

28 Sep 2016 10:34:39
I agree with you Will Red. Although I think the FA as a whole needs shaking up. Howe as the new coach though would be a good start. People worry he wouldn't be able to handle the senior players, then get rid and form his own squad.
2nd on my list would be Hoddle.

28 Sep 2016 11:21:08
Sorry but have I missed something. When the top English clubs don't appoint Bruce why is he good enough for the national team? What experiments do does he have of managing top top players let alone in Europe what has he won? I like him a lot as a person but to be England's manager? I still think Hoddle is the best choice and bring in Rio Gary Neville and Shearer to help coach the players and instill confidence.

28 Sep 2016 12:20:15
Allardyce was a clown to put himself in that situation, typical of the arrogant oaf that he is but I feel sorry for anyone taking the England job . Totally over inflated expectations for what has basically been a 2nd division nation at international level for Fifty years and a press who will hound you from day one.

28 Sep 2016 14:25:12
Ranieri has also been mentioned.

28 Sep 2016 14:01:08
If FA have any brains they should go for either beisla or van gaal but knowing the english fa they will go for someone like pardiola or steve bruce.

28 Sep 2016 17:00:06
CSM - is there another van gaal, surely you didn't just suggest that dinosaur to inflict yet more pain? Are you a Scotland supporter?

28 Sep 2016 19:56:44
Wenger should retire and take the england job.

{Ed025's Note - your right mate..

29 Sep 2016 10:10:10
There is not much to choose from beast but i would have van gaal ahead of pardiola and bruce all day long. And he did finish 3rd with a holland team that has been utter rubbish since he left, and 3rd is a hell lot better than anything England have done in a long long time.
