Cracking win yesterday. Really enjoyed it. I do think we are still short in our squad. I'd say we still need a midfield holding player in the mound of Carrick. Could Blind be that man? Personally I'd sell Basti and Morgan to free up space. I don't think I've seen Schneiderlin play well for us yet.

I agree re Schneiderlin. He was touted as one of the best midfielders in the EPL the year we bought him but so far he has been very underwhelming. It's such a great story as well with him moving through the leagues with Southampton but it isn't happening for him here.

i really wanted us to sign schneiderlin but i'm not sure he has had 1 good game . looked great at southampton.

And we probably never will. Because we always look at him as a CDM. His best work at Southampton was when he played alongside wanmaya (spelling) . Like a lot of other players that have been with us over the last few years, he's playing in the wrong position and getting blamed for not being good enough.
Yesterday hererra played almost as a defensive midfielder and it worked because Leicester only play 2 in the middle. But he too is not a CDM and imo will find it difficult against a busier midfield. We need a proper CDM.

Could Herrera be the man to play that role? . seems to me he was doing the job Carrick would do there yesterday only he's more mobile and better suited to pressing the opposition . He's also more mobile than Blind .
It might not have been the position he was signsd for but he's an intelligent player who, when played there this season has done well .

I rated Schneiderlin very highly and was pleased when he joined. It is a strange one as to why he hasn't found his feet yet. During the LVG reign he should have been one of the few to flourish because his game is a possession based game and doing the little things right like Busquets does for Barca.
Tony like you say it is a great footballing story and I still hold hope he can turn his MUFC career around.

Have posted 2 / 3 times on here that we lack a specialist defensive midfielder well as herera played yesterday. Fellaini is definitely not the answer.

i think some one else has mentioned it but liecester only play with 2 in the middle . they kind of give away the cm a bit and play on the break .
you pick a team to win a game but herrera and pogba may not work as well against other teams with a different set up.

I agree hee is not a defensive midfielder he never was. It never ceases to amaze me how many clubs or managers spend top money on players for doing a great job and then try to get them to play a different role after they buy them.
If you need a toaster at home you buy a toaster you don't buy a sandwich maker and then complain when it makes crap toast😅 Morgan had not been played to his strengths plus he has not played with a partner that compliments his strengths. He is not a bad player he is a good player but its not worked for him at United dso far.

We don't need a holding midfielder, we need 2 players that are able to work like a yo-yo, with the third free to roam. Typically if we have a DM we then have 3 players marking 1 striker. This is why we struggle going forward normally because we have wasted bodies covering the "what if" option - this is what I mean about attacking intent. No need for a holding midfielder 90% of games, we will blitz teams as seen yesterday if we are positive.

Blind didn't have a great 1st season playing in the carrick role, but he has been excellent since being moved to defense. Maybe his 1st season was him adjusting to the English league. Most other signings we make get a "bedding in" period, so maybe it would be worth giving him another shot playing in the deeper midfielder role. He has gotten use to the league now. Who knows, he could be the Dutch Pirlo.
