I didn't watch yesterday but the result reminded me of another game against Northampton back in 1970. United won 8-2 and Best scored 6. I didn't watch that one either, but I do remember vividly what I was up to. It was a good and memorable day. Far more so than last night's mistake enhanced result against a League 1 outfit.

Agree1 Disagree1

I only caught the second half but I thought we played well, there is so much negativity right now, I don't know what people were expecting. We closed down, we chased, we were more energetic.

Carrick oozed class, surely je is the missing link to let Pogba and Herrera roam.

Watch the first half, it was quite poor.

Was first half poor? We were good for about 20 min. Rooney had two tap in chances. Mensah hit the bar. It was not too good but I don't think poor.

{Ed041's Note - quite how anyone can have an opinion after admitting not watching the game is odd.

Spot on, AJH. Those three is CM would be very good giving a run of games IMO.

Tony i thought we were ok. A couple of players performed very poorly imo
However we controlled the whole game but we didn't create very many goal scoring chances for all our possession.
We did give away a bad penalty where error was compounded by error then finally compounded by stupidity.
But they didn't create Any other chance.
But there was an improvement on previous games by most players.

We were playing mid-table league 1, we created barely nothing. It would have been an average-poor performance if we were up against Premier League teams. Some of us have lowered the benchmark so low that simply turning up is good enough it seems (some of our players barely turn up)!

Getting a bit carried away with Carrick . That was a league one side. Last season when he was a year younger west brom were running rings round him. He makes bastian look like a scolded rabbit.

Beast, people see what they want to see. Irrespective of the opposition I enjoyed the second half (Chris, I was only commenting on the half I watched) . The optimists will see good stuff, the doom mongers will see bad stuff, I guess it's all about perspective. There were performances, hopefully those ayers get inked again.

One of the elephants in the room is Ibra who is very static and looks off the pace. He's scored a few but the last couple of games he seems a bit lost.

I agree with that AJH - people are predisposed with these things, but I try to keep a benchmark in place and don't move from it because of one off things or the media telling me to. I think we are seriously underperforming given the squad strength and spend, wage etc. Even our focus on the pitch is anti-Utd still.

I have been very disappointed with all of our attackers (bar Rashford), Ibra has gotten away from flak because of how bad Rooney has been, also Martial to a degree. Goals help mask things, but Ibra like Pogba have been very very underwhelming thus far, they have a bit more rope though.
