What is now the solution to our woes? I will put my hands up and say I wasn’t thrilled with the Moyes appointment which ended pretty catastrophically, I was disgusted by the way LVG had turned us into an anti-footballing unit and even though I dreamt of Pep I did think Mourinho was the correct alternative option in the summer.

Someone pointed out the other day that maybe its time to look beyond the managerial hot seat and look delve deeper into the organisation to find a solution. Other than Rooney and on the odd occasion Felliani no one wants to be critical of other players and say that maybe our list just isn’t as good as what some believe it to be.

Big money players like Depay, Bastain, Rojo and Darmian have just not been good enough. The Mata’s, Herrera’s and Morgan’s haven’t shown what they can do enough consistently and now I see the same folk claiming Smalling was world class last year are spanking him with a wooden spoon this year. Do any of those aforementioned names fill you with confidence on weekly basis that they will get the job done?

As for the new signings, yes some need time to integrate but for me an 89 million pound player should not. I don’t care what position he is played in or whatever other excuses folk may have he has been anonymous and very poor. Miki hasn’t even been able to get into the first eleven so there is obviously an issue there somewhere behind the scenes. Zlatan, like Pogba, has been non existent on the park and other than a few goals is at times very Berbatov like which leaves others to pick up his slack. Are these three players as good as some make out? I am yet to be convinced and as it stands at the moment I would say we have been ripped off for one of those players, one is hard to judge and the other is limiting the progression of the brightest talent in English football – Rashford.

Leaving reputations aside ask yourselves would any of those players mentioned above get into the City team at the moment? If the season goes belly up like it did under David and Louis will it then be a case of sack the gaffer or will it be time to look closer at the list managers, the recruitment team and the hierarchy who are sanctioning our strategies? Granted Jose could have a meltdown like he did at the bridge last season but if he doesn’t then big changes must happen within the club above and below whilst keeping the middle man in check.

{Ed025's Note - great post that MAZE, heres my view as an outsider for what its worth...anyone following SAF was on a hiding to nothing, united played great football and won just about everything under him and supporters have had the bar set so high that anything else is seen as failure, jose does have a winning mentality but its at the cost of flair and entertainment and it has always been the case with him so i dont know why people are surprised?, these days the clamour for instant success has made the managers job almost impossible and with the money being thrown at the game clubs see buying success as the only option and thats a gamble, we will never see the "class of 96"scenario where young players are brought through ever again unfortunately and thats to the detriment of the game imo mate, there is no easy fix here im afraid..

The demise of top flight football in general Maze I'd say. There just aren't that many great matches any more. The trouble is, it's an addiction and I can't stop going to watch it.

Last year you were banging for Lvgs philosophy and and sayin he should be sacked anow this year your saying the problems are deeper.

80 percent of the players you mentioned that are crap were bought by Moyes and Lvg.

Everyone knows Rojo isn't upto uniteds standards. Schweinsteuger hasn't really given himself a chance to shine as he looks overweight or the off fieled issues he's had so he isn't getting a chance.

Darmian has been underperforming for months now.

We all know Mata was sold by Mourinho because he hsd similar players theee but at united he might be a useful player as a squad member just like Schneiderlin who hasn't performed as well as he shouldve.

Players like Depay needs games to know whether he is good or not he hasn't in my eyes had a run of games to know if he will make it and if you just buy players and not give them chance then its no point in buying young players.

Zlatan want bought to run around like Rashford he has more then that to his game his sheer presence will lift players and he is technically very good so you have a player like him but not two mentioning any names.

Mkhitaryan hasn't really had games and i am sure he will get chances as he is a player Mourinho bought and based on his previous clubs he starts slow when he joins a new club and he will grab his place as he is a really good player.

It took players like Hazard and Silva a yewr to settle and if they had the same attitude as us and not being patient they woudlve lost two great players.

Now onto Pogba and you mentioned £89 million, the money spent on him is based on how much the club wwnts to bjy him for everyone and his dog knows that 89 million is a lot but its not his fault that he is bought for a lot of money.

It will take him time to settle down and he isn't messi or ronaldo to dribble and score tons of goals he will need a suitbale player or two next to him to play to his potential and teams like Madrid, Barca and PSG will also be nuts if they were considering buying him and the only reason they couldn't buy him becuase of ffp issues.

We need to back the players and behind the manager rather then moan at each new player for not performing.

We should give Mourinho the chance as he has won in his career and get behind the team to perform otherwise it will be a very long time before the win anything.

The funny thing is when weren't winning last year we were all saying we need a top manager and need to get back to winning and now that we have one of the top 2 managers in the world and yet we still complaining.

Mourinho has only been here since may and we will not see in my opinion a proper Mourinho team until december.

Fairly decent post but I completely agree about Zlatan. He's been fantastic. He's brough class back into the side and from what I have seen he's worked hard when we've been behind. For the record, I was unsure when we signed him.

Pogba on the other hand. Completely agree. I do not get this "time to settle in" malarkay. It's making things too complicated. These players are living out every boys dream. If someone is valued at £89 million but can't stick to basic football tactics i. e. being in the right place when out of possession then something is wrong behind the scenes.

Also I think Mou was wrong to criticise Shaw. He was our best player of a bad bunch against Watford and often is.

It really really annoys me when people say things like 'who would get into the city team '
There's so many variables to that statement, as an example .
Just last season When pogba was putting in performances week in week out, who would have preferred yaya or Fernandinho in their team?
What about Ibrahimavich last season against Negredo?
Watching Dortmund last year you would have been laughed at to suggest Sterling would get a place above Miki.
Even defenders like Otemendi struggled whilst Bailly was one of la liga's best centre backs.
When your team is playing well, the whole team that is, it's easy to say things like that.
I remember Fletcher and Cleverley having man of the match performances and looking like world beaters in a free flowing man united team .

Well said, lastsanemanalive.

Simple answer is yes bailly and pogba would get into the city team. There were in for both players but were out bid.

Singh the thing is LVG was at the root of a lot of the problems last season. His results were awful, his football awful and his signings during his tenure pretty much awful.

Kenneth how can you say on current form Pogba would get into the City team you are having a laugh buddy.

22 Sep 2016 11:39:22
Of course he would maze. Same as he would be in Madrids team if he was there.
All players need time. Hazard needed a season at Chelsea. Bale at madrid. Neymar at Barcelona both needed a season before hitting great heights.

Current Form.
That changes weekly/ monthly . Not totally sure what point these comparisons ever make.
On current form lots of players are playing better than lots of players.
I just don't get it at all, sorry not trying to be clever here.
When the team as a whole aren't playing to their capability it's difficult for individuals to stand out .
I think we have some of the best players around and if the team can hit some form then individual performances will come too.
Then the fickle footballing follower will be telling the rest of the league that none of their players would get into our side.
