Slightly different slant on things but of interest (to me anyway )

For the first time I can remember if you look at any paper today Guardian/ telegragh/ indy/ Mail each one has a feature writer saying Rooney should be benched - i'm no big fan of UK press but I've never seen that before, the lead writers openly stating -some in very direct terms he is holding the team back .

The fella from the Indy with double barrel name saying JM had a plan to phase him out this season but now has to accelerate that before Rooneys performances bring JM s job into problems.

I know a lot of us don't care was the papers say, tabloid journos etc etc but again, I've never seen this much direct blame put at Rooneys door from the UK press regarding Uniteds future. Very interesting as I think although people should make up their own minds the love in or no critisism towards roney genie is out of the bottle .

Personally, I think he has been a great servant but each performance shows his downward slide could be quick and irreversible now.

He has to be benched now. Even himself should know this.

I watched the game again last night and he is one of the major factors why we have struggled recently IMO.

He is struggling to do the simple things.

Agree Jred and Tuor80 . As I say though I have never ever seen the main football correspondents of UK national papers all say its time for Rooney to be removed from the first team for the team to prosper - not as in Lampard/ Gerrard/ Terry fashion of being too old but in a more cutting, direct critique that his touch, passing, shooting and mobility are not good enough to be in a top 4 team - I do think the papers do have a go at UTD more now that SAF has gone - but even so opinion is not that he needs a rest, or played in a diffferent position but that he becomes a squad player which is quite a leap really for the current England captain to be called out for not being good enough to play for his current team. I do not recall seeing that before of any other England captain.

Proves why SAF was right when he wanted Roo out. Great man with foresight and We cannot blame SAF for that. We should not have been held ransom. Good as he was Rooney has deteriorated and now stifling the Procter is other players and worst of all the club.
Schweini probably is a better midfielder than Roo. Unfortunately I am not going into that as I think he should be gone as well.

*progress of other player.

Red there are better midfielders than Rooney in the championship leery alone at old Trafford.

Definitely Kenny buddy.
That's why Rooney should sit out since he is at the back of the line playing front. Else he is always going to get a lot of stick. He can still play in some games but should not now be an auto select. Perhaps he can lead the team in Europa or League games but certainly not against PL teams.

Not sit out red. Get rid. Imo he is like a cancer sucking the life out of this team. His ego his constant moaning at refs his standing over every set piece and cocking it up time and again. His record as captain and really poor form are the one common denominator for the last 3 seasons moyes bottled it Jose can't. He was good, even great for this club at one time but now he is nothing short of a hindrance and cancer to the team and club as a whole.
