I hope we see some sort of reaction from whoever starts.
All those rested will probably start I'd imagine with the possible exception of blind deeney and ighalo can be a handful so he may opt to play smalling.
Right side is the big question mark for me. I'm not sure Miki is fit Mata was poor last night and Jessie is not in the good books.
Will he try rashford there? Or depay?
For sure he had not found the right blend just yet but for nee that is to be expected.

16 Sep 2016 16:54:48
wig rooney tony ibra and saw will come back in, bailly could miss out .

16 Sep 2016 17:14:02
Spot on Ken.

I think it is a bit premature to start getting overly worried about the situation.

We do need to get the right blend going forward. But I fully expect we will.

16 Sep 2016 17:43:43
whos overly worried?

I'm a little concerned JM is going through a crisis in confidence, whatever happened that last season at Chelsea he doesn't look like he has come out the other side to me. In fact it was after Xmas the year before when it started, Chelsea were immense before that, then limped to the title with displays very much like we are seeing now. They continued playing how we are right up until he was axed, so don;t let the media kid us that it was just last season he messed up.

Might be nothing but is Martial our Hazard? For some reason Hazard was useless last season

Every game this season, including pre-season and the Charity Shield we have looked very poor going forward. Solid-ish at the back, but just as bad as under LVG going forward, no matter who is playing.

So I am concerned that JM's way of playing is not working. This 4-5-1 tactic or whatever is the norm now, teams know how to defend against it, especially if your manager has a severe case of the "safety first" outlook.

It's LVG without the possession at the minute, early days, but I was expecting to see better by now, at least some green shoots anyway. I think he will improve us and he is an upgrade on LVG, but I'm not seeing any noticeable difference (aside from giving up the ball more) despite another mega-spend.

Even Zlatan has looked poor so far despite his goals.

last night was awful, it never worked .
mata done what he always does.
martial was a bit better, signs he is on the way back.
rash was so isolated, never seen a striker so isolated .
why was no one supporting him or even going in the same half he was in.
no idea what happened in cm, herrera looked busy, where did pogba think he was playing?

schniders just watched the game .

best part for me was seeing 18 year old rashford given the most expensive player in thr world a bollocking .

it was as bad as anything last year but we won't be that bad again .

16 Sep 2016 19:21:09
i don't think Mourinho, or most people for that matter, would have expected Guardiola to have City playing the way he wants them to so soon . That's going to put pressure on Mourinho if our performances don't improve and results are hit and miss .
If that happens it's going to be interesting to see how he reacts considering his total meltdown at Chelsea.

16 Sep 2016 20:02:06
When SAF didn't have stellar starts to the season we knew we would improve, it was about our, the fans, confidence. Right now the club is going through a change, the natural successor to LvG was Pep, therefore Jose has to change the mentality as well as the style in a different direction.

Those who followed in the 70's and 80's know it isn't an instant turn around, anyone who has tried to turn a business around knows it isn't instant. I am relaxed, it will improve.

Back in 85 we won the first 10 games, didn't win the league, I would rather be playing our winning football in April.

16 Sep 2016 20:48:10
Absolutely spot on Red Man.

16 Sep 2016 20:56:42
then again is jose not know for getting of to a quick start?
dont see what the issue is, won our first 3 then got beat by a good city team .
last night we tried something different didn't work .

16 Sep 2016 20:57:16
Yeah Red Man - copy and paste from when Moyes took over, then again when LVG took over, not getting at you but it's a different world now and Koeman proved with Saints, Pep proved with City, Rainieri proved with Leicester that you can improve almost instantly.

I do agree that Rome wasn't built in a day, but we have developed a culture of late to be overly accepting of poor play and using the old line "give it time", well we gave LVG plenty of time, look where it got us!

I'm going to evaluate each game as it is played, because we have absolutely zero knowledge of the inner workings of the club and what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to progress, it's just wishful thinking and waffle from the club. The only thing we can judge fairly is the performances, thus far they flatter to deceive. I'm sure they will improve but I don't want to wait 1, 2 3 years for that to happen.

16 Sep 2016 21:08:03
the first 4 league games i thought where ok, room to improve.
that said city and others have proved u can start well as beast has pointed out .
i wonder what people would be saying about pep if city had started like united.

16 Sep 2016 22:12:03
Beast
SAF improved us instantly did he?

It is time that some of the younger supporters realised that instant success is not guaranteed

Jose deserves a chance, in fact I would give him longer than either of the last 2 managers given his record. It is time to have stability of at least 3 years and that comes from someone who. wore a sexton must go badge in the 70's.

16 Sep 2016 22:14:26
Beast we aren't leicester, everton or city and i mentioned the other day its easier to adapt to a attacking philosphy then adapt to what Mourinho is trying to do.

Like it or not we will have to give mourinho time to build his team. Once he knows what players to play where and the players adapt to his plan then we will be a much better team at the moment the team just looks lost.

At the same time some of the experienced players have to put their hand up and deliver, the big issue is that we have so many different players it will take time for players to get to know each others game and play well as a team.

16 Sep 2016 23:09:00
Redman
So your going give him longer than moyes and manager you wanted out before a ball was kicked, good on you .
And your going to lecture beast

When does a reason become an excuse pal.

Jred,

If the team is still underperforming by the end of december then there is definitely something wrong with either the players or the management until then i would back the team and let them get to know each others game as well as rediscover their form.

17 Sep 2016 09:28:03
sing
well i'm expecting better performances from some players tomorrow to be honest .

{Ed041's Note - I agree, Rooney, pogba, Martial need to step up now.

17 Sep 2016 09:28:37
Jred

Bit of a difference in CVs Moyes to Mourinho isn't there? It was that obvious Moyes would be a failure that I was against him from the start.

17 Sep 2016 09:42:31
red
yep you where against the manager before a ball was kicked . so don't preach to people about supporting the manager .
ed
i agree some players definitely need to step up.
