what did people think of city yesterday, is there a chance pep is a good manager after all.

Agree6 Disagree9

Left to be proven honestly. Time will tell. One win over Utd does not make him great. Rather he had KDB playing well yesterday. That said he has potential to be great.
For us, Mou is a good and tactically strong manager. I still feel that Man Utd can provide him the platform to be a great manager. If he can bring back our traditions and guide the team well, he can become a legend himself with our backing. He is already showing constraint and looking like a cool manager. At least far better than the last 2 managers.

Very impressive so far. The way he's managed to fit de bruyne and silva into a midfield 3 whilst maintaining defensive solidity is just one example of his quality.

But i wouldn't be rolling the red carpet out for him just, still a long way to go.

11 Sep 2016 20:37:32
I thnk we got taught a lesson yesterday. Everyone is looking for positives but I thought the gap between us was pretty big. We al think of Jose as tactically adept but he got it very wrong yesterday. As for Pep, knows what he wants, didn't think twice about dumping Hart, and he also has som good players. I predicted City to win the League with us 2nd, not seen anything to change my mind so far.

11 Sep 2016 20:49:52
We will win the league Ajh i dotn se eGuardiolas tactics eorking all the time.

Teams will defend for their lives and take points off them.

Mourinho got his team selecion wrong and for us to be successful we need to play the best players and not play players due to their names.

If we do that and with Mourinhos tactics we will win the league.

City were very good on the ball yesterday, they moved it quick and intelligently. All things we expect from a Pep team. But I didn't think they were all that, Bravo lools like Valdes, good with the ball at his feet and shop stopping but lacks authority and looks prone to making errors with high balls. Their defence looks set up to attack rather than defend which will make them prone to the odd gaffe and weak at set plays. This City team can certainly be got at.

Our mistake was not pressing them and giving them too much space.

The big difference yesterday was their big players played well and ours didn't. If Pogba had the kind of game KdB had we would have won.

Interestingly I don't think any team in the EPL has a particulary good defence. The team that wins it this year will probably be the team that does manage to defend best.

11 Sep 2016 21:34:29
Oh yeahh Shappy i forgot to mention Bravo as he doesn't look like any upgrade on Hart or not the kind of. keeper that will win you titles.

11 Sep 2016 21:45:11
I think once people start getting stuck into city they will maybe come unstuck.
They are not a physical side and no one has exploited that yet, which i am surprised about.
1st half they played very well and got 2 goals that were mistakes and quite lucky,2nd half they weren't all that.
1st half we were poor got a lucky goal from mistakes and shouldve had another before half time if zlatan had some composure as he had time.
2nd half we dominated the game and missed a lot of chances and didn't use our physical strength to get over the line.

They were good in parts so were we, whatever the score yesterday would have been deserved for both sides.

11 Sep 2016 22:21:16
The other issue I feel City may have this season is Pep's inexperience of the EPL.

His team have started like an express train, but the sheer amount of effort and running his team are currently doing will be very hard to sustain over the whole EPL season.

Unlike in other leagues where his high press has enable his team to get the ball back quickly, the end to end nature of the EPL will tire his team out quicker, add to that the relentless fixtures and being in 4 competitions and no mid season break it could all lead to Pep's team running out of steam in the final third of the season.

11 Sep 2016 22:34:06
Jred, he's at city. Who the f%k cares if he's a good manager :s . Jose an United is what we should be worrying about!

12 Sep 2016 06:49:06
CR92 I wouldn't really worry about Mou.
It's early in the season (4th game) so I am sure we will evolve. Perhaps what Mou lacks Pep is Mou not making the decision to drop a player who has been with the club some years 😉😉😉 (he who must not be named) haha.

12 Sep 2016 10:49:39
Red666, I never meant we should be worried, but our focus should only be on United and Mourinho NOT pep. jred sounding like a gloating citeh fan coming on here trying to get United fans approval on pep 😂.

12 Sep 2016 11:09:25
ive been impressed with city, only 4 games in but they are playing some great stuff . the team that gets more points than them will win the title.

but jose has been great as well, is ir them for the title imo.

12 Sep 2016 12:04:10
CR92 I know. I am re emphasizing your point 😉😀.
Am sure JRED knows and agree. Not sure if Jred is fishing or not haha.
Anyway it's too early to comment who will win the PL title except that we will have a better view comes Dec. we can only hope Mou and the team learn from the defeat and agree with some posters that it is better early now than later in season. 👍👌.

12 Sep 2016 12:24:16
Jred, I haven't seen anything yet that has changed my opinion that the title will be between us and City. Maybe Chelsea might put in a real challenge but I think they will fall short.

City have definately started better, but everyone knows the EPL is a marathon not a sprint. Both us and City look weak defensively, but I believe the way we will likely play means we will probably conceed less, which I think could sway it in our direction. We'll see how Pep's team copes with 6-7 games a month for the next 7 months. Pep isn't used to having to rotate players. Who wins the title this year may be decided by who exits Europe first.

im not fishing i think we saw the best 2 teams in the league yesterday .
im a united fan but a football fan as well.
pep to get that team playing as well as they are after only a few games is great .
just the same as watching de buryne and saying he was the best player on the pitch.

12 Sep 2016 12:53:35

i thought bravo had a mare but the city back 4 played well imo.

12 Sep 2016 13:12:40
Good on you Jred.
But I wouldn't even start to consider Pep a great manager. Perhaps yes he might be considered an Ok manager at this moment as I think he needs to achieve something here in PL before we start to think he is good. Afterall it's only been 4 games.
So good manager? Not sure to maybe.
I just have this funny feeling that we have a pretty good chance to take the title. Not sure why yet but just a funny feeling as I like what I am seeing in the team.

12 Sep 2016 13:17:53
City were magnificent in the first 40 I honestly we were going to get tonked but there was massive improvement after that .

We have all been screaming for the last 2 years for exciting football and in my opinion that was an exciting game but that's all it won't have any bearing on the final standings and I'm convinced we will win the league.

12 Sep 2016 14:40:04
Jred, we didn't really give City's back four much of an examination to be honest. Plus the moment we gained the upper hand in the game Pep showed his managerial masterclass by doing exactly what LvG did all the time by getting 10 men behind the ball, he even took his striker off and replaced him with a defensive midfielder as he was soo confident in his teams ability to defend. Lol.

12 Sep 2016 19:57:26

pep won the game pal, united got on top peo made changes and got the result.
like all good teams city defended as a team i thought they where good and pep got it right imo.

{Ed041's Note - while I agree city looked very good for 40 mins they could of quite easily not got all 3 points. The story today is how good city where and how it's ominous for the league, you could easily spin that to, even though united were so poor for 40 mins and conceded 2 we could of very easily walked away with some points.

12 Sep 2016 20:48:14
Jred. Did you watch city's first game against the mighty Sunderland? They were average at best and were very lucky to win.
On Saturday, they were lucky their goalkeeper didn't get sent off and the result would have been different.
So what is the point of going on about Pep?

12 Sep 2016 22:58:06
Lool shappy you kill me. I don't ever bother arguing with you, and I'm glad in this instance I agree with everything you've said. I mentioned that in the live chat, everyone expected a Jose 1:0 baracade the door, when In fact, baldy pep did that by taking off his only ST for a beast of A CDM. City actually look very boring to watch unless the opposite team has opened themselves up, then peps "philosophy" looks amazing. When in fact, it's like watching LVG with a better squad, and the right players to suit his ways. Yh maybe I'm one of those bitter fans who disregard pep because he's snubbed us and went to the nobody's next door, but I find it very irritating when I've come on our page, to see our own fans telling us how great pep is and can we now give him a round of applause? Like yoo mate, you've already got a manager at a more prestige club who you SHOULD be praising!

13 Sep 2016 03:07:11
Agree CR92 👏👏👏.
