Didn't get to see the Derby as I'm currently in Cuba, but I read up on it, it seems from the reports that city where the better side but there was a lot of positives from when United turned to a 4-3-3?

I think this is the formation that we have all wanted for a few years, even going back to the 08-09 season when we seemed to do well in this set up.

I think Mourinho fell into the same trap fergie fell into when Barcelona beat us in that we wanted to just attack, it's surprising as I thought mourinho would be different to that.

The big conundrum is still Rooney, I think we can all agree on that? Where is roo yes best position? Maybe he needs to do what giggs and scholes did towards there later years and accept that at his age and the fact it's his 15th season at the top he isn't the player he once was and is actually holding others back.

We have the players available to be a big force, and I still think we will win the league, however for me a 4-3-3 formation is a must, I think one of the eds mentioned earlier about mkhitaryan being in the center, this is exactly what I thought he was being brought in for. I was expecting carrick or schneiderlin to be the holding role which would allow pogba and mkhitaryan a more free role, mourinho seems to fancy Herrera in that role which I'm just as happy with. Then with martial and rashford out wide and zlatan up top it gives us a perfect set up, zlatan would be great holding the ball up for pogba and mkhitaryan to run on to.

What I would say is let's keep our chins up, I can only see us learning from yesterday

Sorry for the long post.

the conundrum is pogba imo, did we not pay 100 mil for him to make a difference in them games .?
heŕrera was far better when he come on.

The conundrum is why pay 100 mil for one of the most promising midfield players in the world if you're going to keep him shackled as a dm?

Very hard for Pogba to make a difference if he's asked to play a holding role in a two man midfield against the most possession hungry manager in the world. All our midfielders played better when Herrera came on because we could match them in midfield. Simple fact is we have played our best football for the last two seasons when we have played with three in midfield. It suits Pogba, suits Fellaini, suits Herrera, suits Schniderlin, suits Carrick.

Now who would be the odd man out if we played three in midfield, hmmmmm.

On the other aide of that coin should we not be building the team around a guy we pay 100m for. Letting him influence things in the final third with less defensive responsibilties.

Making a difference in that game plus having to look after silva/ de bruyne. I know he cost 100m but he's not superman.

jred I think you are right on Pogba but it is still early.
Unfortunately I don't think we will see the best of him until we play a 433 with him as one of the advanced 2. Whether we can play that with Fellaini and Rooney I am not sure.
For me I would like to see pogba and Harera ahead DM.
Lots said it. before he joined but that is where he played best for Juventus and France so Jose should nothe be expecting the best out of him in a 2.

9 out of 10 times jose plays 4231 its what has won him titles .
why can't pogba play in a 4231? a good cm can play end off.
he could of attacked he just didn't play well
was the formation wrong for pogba or did he just have a bad game.
truth is we played 433 second half was he any better?

is pogba not our match winner.

The conundrum is pogba? 😂 3rd game of the season and he is the conundrum! How about over 3 years of mediocrity from a player that seems be undroppable, now that's the real conundrum.

I'm sure pogba will be the match winner #injosewetrust.

angle
trying to keep away from your rooney obsesion and talk about someone else.

pogs is the most expensive player in the world highest payed player in the epl and why?
he is a cm, is he a match winner? he scored 12 goals last year his best ever .
he is a good player, is he uniteds best player? the leagues best, have we spent 100 mil on a match winner?
united city yesterday we got beat why is no one talking about our top star player .
should a 30 year old rooney in decline be the main man or the 100 mil 23 year old pogba .
i expect pogs to be the main man .
also what about mik, after watching the game yesterday it no wonder he is struggling to get in the team . another kagawa?
pogba or de buryne?

We got overrun in the middle. Fellaini is not massively mobile either so that made it even more challenging.

jred there is no conundrum on pogba, when u pay 100mn for someone, it is expected or rather should be demanded that we setup to get the best out of him, which would mean playing a 3 man mf, which would allow him to attack and make runs with the ball and not worry about his defensive duties as much. But sadly we setup to get something out of a once great but currently mediocre player who incidentally happens to be our captain and seems to have a lot of pals in the media.

I am not saying the loss was rooney's fault, he was one of our better performers for me, but if u look at our overall play over those 4 matches, we tried to play quick football but it always came to a grinding halt when 1 guy touched the ball, everyone manages to keep the tempo up in attack but a certain individual gets the ball and then he has dawdle on the ball as he lacks the skill or vision to be a good no 10, he slows down the pace and it is back to square one. He does not lose the ball or makes any other obvious mistake most of the times which is why none points at his mistakes, but his delaying and dawdling on the ball holds us back.

jred, i think if we go through each others post the obsession regarding rooney is not from my side.

Your post was ridiculous, it deserved the response.
