So we have sold or loaned Tyler Blackett, McNair, Keane, Love and now Phil Jones may be on his way. The one I am surprised to see not linked away is Rojo. He is the one I and many others thought may go first but he must been seen as useful cover for Shaw.
If Phil does go we are fairly short at the back and I would see that as a definite sign Fonte is coming in. Smalling, Bailly and Blind backed up by TFM and Tuanzebe we may get away with but is a couple of injuries away from an inexperienced pairing. Fonte is making more sense by the minute.
That said we could probably just have Bailly and De Gea at the back and still have a better defence than Liverpool.

rojo still being at utd seems to be more down to him not wanting to leave, it was reported he turned down move to china and his wages also seem to be an issue for other interested clubs.

By all accounts he is digging his heels in. big contract, not willing to take a cut in wages otherwise he would be long gone - the only hope we had is signing the fabinho fella from Monaco and trying to push Rojo on them. seems that's not happening.

To be fair its our own fault for making poor signings and giving them the wage they're on. It makes it very difficult to then move them on at an acceptable transfer fee.

Correct HoneyBadger but it is very well known now to any player that we are the pay checks outside of China and the US.

The thing is about Rojo is that he should be so much better. He has been hampered by injuries, and maybe the EPL is too physical for him, or maybe he's just lazy, but he did managed to hold down a place in a very good defensive Argentinian team a couple of years ago. He might yet turn out to be a player who, with the right mamager and system, may be of value.

Selling Jones doesn't really make us short at the back, he's never fit to make the bench anyway.

Jones is going nowhere. Rojo probably deserves another crack under Jose although I'd prefer him to leave than Jones. He's a liability at centre half but is a decent left back. If Phil can stay fit for 20 games he will be a player. Big if though.
