Stand are you trying to stop the scousers from crying by telling them they will be top four not a chance mate top ten for me at best.

Agree3 Disagree1

I genuinly think they will mate.

21 Aug 2016 01:59:41
They'll come second imo. I don't like defending them but they battered Burnley, it happens often that a team sneaks a win. Obviously they have major problems, but they don't have Europe and they have time to fix the defence.

Teams like Burnley will make it very difficult to break them down. The one massive advantage we have is what Stand referred to above, we can boss teams now, we have the physicality that other teams lack. If we can't find space we can force it and get goals from set-pieces, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs even City will struggle in that area.

Cannot see scousers coming first or second, that is cuckoo land.

i have to disagree beast, battered would be a huge overstatement, they had lots of possession in and around the burnley box but how many chances did they create, i don't think anything other than 2 shots from outside the box 1 from firmino and other from grujic forced good saves from heaton. I thought they will be in top 4 this season but what i saw against arsenal and yesterday i have to say i might have overestimated the impact klopp would have on the team, mane is a big loss for them. But other than that they looked like a rodgers team, too many AM's, 1 striker who played outwide for some reason.

Unless klopp manages to conjure up a way to beat teams that put 11 men behind the ball and hit them on counter they will not finish top4 or even 6. Liverpool i have to say are a thoroughly average team, with exception of sturridge and coutinho, add to it sturridge can't stay fit and coutinho is consistently inconsistent.

{Ed001's Note - 25 shots I think with 1 or 2 on target. Showed why Klopp wanted Mane though, he was a big loss. People are getting too carried away with it though, Burnley are a fantastic defensive unit, extremely well drilled and have the best home defensive record in England over the last couple of seasons. I think, if I remember correctly, they conceded just 7 goals at home in their relegation season. I don't think a team has scored 2 goals past them at home in over a season.}

Ed001 burnley might be a good defensive unit, but i don't think they would have gone off the pitch thinking we got lucky or that was hard. Other than stopping coutinho and firmino from shooting from outside the box they have no real job as the crossed were as tame as they come, i did not watch the first 40 mins but what is saw in the 5 mins in first and mostly in 2nd half was beyond a shot from distance u had nothing to really speak for, your defense looks as poor as it was under rodgers and can't blame those goals on mignolet either, it was the new guy i think with the viking name. Mane is the only one who can consistently run at players with pace, and he isn't a consistent player either. All in all u have a 1 dimensional attack and a defense with ability to be rubbish in multliple ways. Not a great combo to be top 4.

{Ed001's Note - they were excellent and shut us out well. You can blame Mignolet for not making saves, it is his job, but the whole defence were awful. There is no partnership there and they can't cope with pace. The players left behind by Rodgers are simply not good enough, other than Sturridge (on his day) and Couts (again on his day). It is a long way back.}

21 Aug 2016 09:33:17
so where do u see liverpool finishing ed?

{Ed001's Note - no idea, too early to tell and a lot depends on keeping the better players fit. Top 6 is the expectation, but it is so open it is impossible to really be sure what order that top 6 will be in. I mean United and City have got points but neither have looked good doing so. In fact, no one has looked good yet. It is too early.}

Its a long way back but given the fickle nature of modern fans is he going to get the time. To be honest I think so far he's bought poorly.

21 Aug 2016 14:10:26
I agree with ed its too early to tell but my gut instinct (and bias probably) tells me pool will be well outside top 4.
Klopp may have bought poorly he has a very mixed record of buying players when his good Dortmund team were steeped of a few key players he never replaced them despite spending plenty and took them into mid table obscurity. And Dortmund look much better now without him.
I think klopp is a bluffer and there is no real substance behind all the noise he makes. I'm not sure he is a great coach. But time will tell he has his own players and team at pool he has said as much so let's wait and see.
I think he looks too friendly with his players and all this bravado and celebration following a win is just nonsense imo.
I think his style is more suited to be an international manager where he has his players for short periods to motivate them and get them up for games. A lot of players seem to Get bored or lose faith in him after a while.
Just my opinion.

Ken
I don't think it nessessarily works like that for us especially us . We got mane who looks a fantastic buy but kklopp wanted Chilwell (lb) who the club messed about on and gotze who just wasn't for coming. Klopp has identified some very good players and wanted to bring them in but there's been otherwise variables As I've just mentionEd. We need a left back but that's not Klopps fault. The one that was wanted in was completely messed about with by those conducting the transfers. This hasn't been the first time. On many occasions we've conducted ourselves terribly and lost potential buys.
The one player that I never wanted and I think klopp will most likely regret is Wijnaldum. He was asked did he want him after Klopps initial player he wanted we couldn't get and klopp said yes. We bought a very good goalkeeper who is unfortunately injured but this transfer discussion at lfc is not all klopp.

Al I have no idea what goes in at Liverpool he asked for GW and got him. He bought two centre backs he wanted he has so far not got a lb mane should do well but let's see how his dodgey attitude holds up
He bought a very mixed bag at Dortmund especially in the last couple of years. Liverpool were never going to get gotze if he wanted to play for klopp he would have come but he didn't. Imo he is a complete buffer 2 really good seasons as a manager and that's it with a gifted team he could not hold together.
But time will tell. I don't think he will be your manager Xmas 17 he will be found out I think.
I was pretty much a lone voice on Herr when people were touting him add a replacement for moyes and lvg he did worse than rodgers last year ands completely blew the europa final through naivety.
Your keeper might be good but might not the epl is tough on keepers ddg found it tough.
I admire your optimism but its misplaced imo.

21 Aug 2016 15:16:36
I'll give you that Al. You've had a terrible record at buying going back to Evans. Houllier, Dalgliesh and Benitez all bought some duffers too. All managers due, Fergie had his fair share after all. But I think in the premier league era you've managed more than most.

21 Aug 2016 17:10:36
Ken same here too. Always thought he's overrated.
