I think everybody is entitled to their opinions. Opinions and perceptions of how players plated come from the expectation of how you think they should perform.
In 96 I remember a run of games where cantona scored 6 or 7 goals in about 10 games to give us 1 nil victories. He did not dominate those games. But he was there to give us the win by delivering the telling moment. I think ibra is in the same mild. He was very quit yesterday but delivered when it counted and when we needed it. That is what I expect from him all season.
He can't and won't do what rashford does he will come in and out of games but imo will be the difference between winning and drawing by making a telling contribution when it counts.
On the other hand wwhile playing the 10 role I weexpect that player to constantly link play create chances retain possession and whoever plays there cannot be largely anonymous for the most part of the game.
That's just my opinion.

Hey, when you have to use stats and point to deficiencies of other players to defend the one you like, you're already half way to acceptance.

i can remember a run of 9 games after xmas when rooney scored 8 goals and still got slagged off.
you can tell that for some people they have made there mind up before a ball has been kicked .
x player will play well no matter what .
y player will play poor .

Jred I admire you staunchly defending Rooney but even you have to admit he's not the player he once was, of course the quality around him hasn't been great either but Rooney is part of that lack of quality now, it's not about before a ball is kicked people's opinion is based on his performance last for the last 2 seasons and I saw nothing yesterday to see him getting his best form back, Ibra was poor too yesterday, carrick wasn't too good, Fellaini either, me personally I don't just pick on Rooney I will say x, y and z need to be better but after so much time of average performance that's when you know it's time. I believe Rooney is finished at the level United need him to be. SAF was the master at moving people on at the right time, there's a reason Fergie was ready to move Wayne on too. I sincerely hope Jose can get the best out of him but what I hope more is if he's not performing Jose has the courage to take him out. So can we now just agree to have our own opinions regards players even If it doesn't match what others views are but let's support them and our club this season and not have daily Rooney debates.

its a team game, again the season hasn't even started and the same people are slagging of all the same players .
the wig done ok imo looks more effective than carrick and co imo and was no surprise he got the nod from jose. mind you for some people he can do no right .
much the same as mata and herrera even schiders haven't done much over the last 12 month but can do no wrong .
i would continue to pick the wig over him.
martial was poor, worse player on the pitch and looks out of sorts at the moment .
great to see tony and linders playing well 2 players who got slagged of all last season and thro the summer.
remember linders is not united quality and tony is never a rb?
a lot to talk about really, but many just want to talk about rooney .
you can always make an argument to slag a player off or one to big him up .
i said at the start i would trust jose to pick the right team others on the site seem to think they know better?

I don't think ibra was as poor he's what 34-35? No way he's tearing past 4 players lingard style what counts for him as a striker is he finishes his chances as far as I saw one he scored the other Rooney kind of tackled him in the box

Ken if Zlatan plays like that all season then we will have no chance of getting top four let alone winning the league. In this league you cannot have a passenger week in week out in the hope he can score a goal and expect the rest of the team to pick up the extra slack.
You can compare him to Cantona all you like but the game has evolved and every player working hard is crucial to the team. I like Zlatan but his performance yesterday other than the goal was woeful. Surely you are not as naive as to think the game is still played with a front man sitting up top on the last defender doing nothing all game waiting for the ball to drop at his feet.
This just looks like another post and another round about dig at Rooney - the club legend - whist bigging up the the new fancy name on the block.

tbf a lot of the players I don't even know if they are good enough or not due to is it them or the LVG mentality imprinted on them. I think lots of players have a lot to prove but I've seen enough over a period of time to say certain players have underperformed for too long and how long do you give someone, jury is still out on many tbh but I'm looking forward to this season, I'm excited by Jose's the sigings, players being invigorated, onwards and upwards!

jred you have hit the nail on the head same people slagging same players no matter how good they perform watch for the positives in the matches rather than just the negatives Rooney Fellani Valencia and Jesse are all Manchester United players and i am proud of all of them.

Martial was poor and hardly involved yesterday. I wonder if his personal issues are taking a toll on his form. But he was well of the pace yesterday.
Both full backs were good yesterday add were both cbs I thought blind worked well and complimented bailly.
Lots to improve on and I think the manager summed that up well in his interview. They are far from fit yet.

If Zlatan plays how he played yesterday we won't finish top 4? We beat the Champions yesterday with Zlatan playing like that and he scored the winner. He has only played 2 lots of 45 minutes and that was his first 90, his touches were classy and I repeat, he scored the winner, good start and long may it continue.

I'm delighted, i'm well happy for the new campaign and I support all our players but at the same time I am allowed to an opinion wether it be on Roo, ToniV, martial, whoever, if they are poor I will say as I will say when someone deserves credit, I've been critical of Valencia but he deserves heaps of praise atm, I see a successful season with the players we've got.
