Angelred - like I said before I think it will be a tough year for everyone. At the moment if I was pushed I would say City will finish on top and that has nothing to do with summer transfer activity.

I believe they are the only team who still have enough players who know what it takes to win this league at the top of thier game in key areas. Pep in my opinion is the best in the game at the moment and that is no disrespect to Jose who I also admire but I wanted Pep at United and was upset when he signed for City.

That is how I see it at the moment but hopefully our team can collectively come together and adapt well under Jose.

I expect Mourinho to push for the title against everyone be that City, Chelsea, Arsenal etc. Like LVG before him if he doesn't have a real good title challenge then his first year will be a failure.

Agree2 Disagree20

Maze,

I highly doubt City will win the league, they will be playing a new style of football a bit like Lvgs style of possesion football but Pep is a bit more attacking.

City are not clear favourites, i wouls rather bet my money on Chelsea nicking it as they hve no wuropean distraction and their players are settled.

We will challenge for th title but won't win it unless the other teams have a below par season.

City are still lacking in defence and Pep does like tinkering about with his team a bit too much for my liking and will be his downfall this year.

04 Aug 2016 11:33:16
So to summarise it, you are of the opinion that the team who finished ahead of us on goal difference last season will easily win the league bcz of pep, who let me remind has never managed in epl before and who has a heck of rebuilding job to do when one looks at the city defence and midfield, but mourinho who has twice won the league multiple times before and is buying pretty well by the looks of it will at most come 4th with utd that too if lucky or europa it is again. And then u tell us u are not a WUM maze.

04 Aug 2016 11:43:50
CSM that my opinion. I not winding anyone up.

Singh has just posted above that he believes United won't win the league unless the other teams around us are below par. Do you want to have a go at him for having his own opinion too?

04 Aug 2016 11:46:34
Is it possible to have a real good challenge at the title whilst also struggling to finish top 4? i'd be quite impressed with Jose if he managed to do both, simultaneously.

I think you'd be a fool to predict a winner this season tbh, its going to be wide open Imo.

04 Aug 2016 11:58:16
Maze i too don't see us winning the title this season but we will be in the mix, lowest i see us finishing is 3rd. Your posts historically speaking always feel like u are a more subtle version of the mighty reds guy who pops around here from time to time when liverpool go on a 1 match winning run, my point was u think city a team with a defense as bad as ours and compounded by a gk who rivals mignolet in making a fool of himself, a mf that even with gundogan doesn't look world beater by any stretch of the imagination and add to it a manager who will making his debut in the league and whose chosen style is one that has proven not to work as effectively in pl as it has in other leagues will win the league easily but other managers with as equipped a team and with lot more experience will not be able to compete. Tell me even to u this must sound a bit like a wind up.

04 Aug 2016 11:58:19
I think City might be a good shout. Fundamentally they have a stronger squad than most and Pep is one of the best. I don't see Chelsea competing, rumour is they got fed up with Jose's intensity and now they have mad Conte to deal with.

As usual, if Wenger buys well Arsenal could be the team to beat. Fortunately he rarely buys well.

04 Aug 2016 12:07:01
I think it will be between United and arsenal in May.
I think city have bought a couple of decent players
Would anybody choose gundogan over pogba?
Sane or nolito over Miki?
The jesus over ibra?
I remember a lot of posters on here wanting us to sign mangala and otemendi.
Their back line looks as suspect as its maybe even more so.
Will aguero stay fit? He is so vital to them.
Will they adapt to pep quickly enough
Kits of question marks there.
Spurs are flying under the radar a bit can they replicate their form from last season?
Will klopp deliver or be found out again to be an under achiever with only 2 good seasons in his career? Once he lost a couple of players from that team in Dortmund he never replaced them despite spending a lot.
Will conte handle the pressure
Can Leicester surprise us again?
Very unpredictable so I'm going with Wenger and Jose to fight it iiut in the end. They know what they ate ding in the epl for sure.

04 Aug 2016 12:34:29
CSM you have just said you could see us finishing 3rd yet I think we may possibly finish 4th and your having a go at me? What's the difference?

Now your calling me Liverpool fan in disguise. Another day, another personal attack on the Maze.

04 Aug 2016 12:51:49
Maze third at worst and 4th at best are 2 different things. About the attack as u put it look at the positive side, it was only maze i attacked not jmb or rollo😜😜.

04 Aug 2016 13:10:51
So what you said before is pointless then?

04 Aug 2016 13:18:17
CSM's post in pep and being new to the prem is spot on!

And to add to that, i think we will win the league this season!

04 Aug 2016 13:56:41
That's your opinion EZRS. I hope your right but I don't think you will be.

As for Pep he is a champion like Mourinho and those who are going to write off him or even Conte at this point do so at their own peril.

04 Aug 2016 14:02:52
I think we'll finish fourth behind city arsenal and Chelsea. I also think Liverpool will improve a lot this season. We also have Spurs who will also push us all the way for fourth spot.

04 Aug 2016 14:09:13
Schmid you are a wind up merchant.

04 Aug 2016 14:27:35
We will never win anything under Louis van gaal.

04 Aug 2016 14:30:48
Schmidfield,

I camr believe you actually think we will finish 4th.

If we are spending 100 mill on Pogba, i fully expect us to challenege for the title this year but it will be a year too early.

You can't spend the money we are willing to spend this year and expect us to be 4th position.

I actually deep down think that Mourinho really wants to win it this year but he doesn't want to admit it just yet incase we don't win it.

04 Aug 2016 14:32:22
Pep is undoubtably one of the best in the wrld.

My thoughts are that if there is a football league out there that may catch pep and conte out its the EPL!

, JM has a big advantage in this respect and i hope that gives us the edge. Its all subjective though 😊.

04 Aug 2016 14:40:51
I think this season is ashame close as it gets. Potentially the business that teamsdo in the JJanuary window could be the difference.
City, there CD issues for me are massively over played. if kompany staY's fit and the ex valencia player will improve after time in PL THE they will be hard to get through especially with Gundogenot patrolling midfield.
Chelsea will be much more organised. much more like 2 years ago. Striker signings look likebthey would cope with injuries and Kante will be awsome again in. my opinion.
Arsenal. depends if they buy a couplease but. they already have a steady squad they have added to.
That's before we look. at spurs who will be good again, Liverpool improving ando for me the whole will be bigger than the parts for klopp so let's nothe get complacent because no big name arrivals. Leicester will dip. no Kanye andCL to deal with.
TThat's before the always surprise packages who just fall away. west ham, Everton maybe (koeman great signing by the way)
Anyone got a 6/ 7/ 8 headed coin to toss!

04 Aug 2016 15:57:12
1 . we spent a lot of cash under lvg 2 . pep is new to the league so is ibra miki bailiy.
3. new players are a bit of an unkown will they be a kagawa, di maria or a sanchez de buryne.
4.bookies like maze have city as favourires.
5. you could make an argument for 5 or 6 winning it not just united.
6.it looks a tight league we could play great and come 4th.
7.is there really much wrong with the op sounds like most agree.

should be a great league this year can't wait.

04 Aug 2016 16:36:16
That's true so many unknowns.
That's why I think arsenal are a huge threat. Minimal changes to their set up if they get a decent cb they could do Better than last season imo.

04 Aug 2016 17:02:27
Jred, all teams will have players who are new to the league but only 2 will have a manager in that boat. That could be a major factor or could mean very little come May, purely speculation to assume either way. As you say, so many variables that it makes predicting the winner an almost impossible task tight now.

The OP would be fine if the same person hadn't said just yesterday that we would be 'lucky' to get top 4. No big deal, I think some people just enjoy the panto villain role on this site.

04 Aug 2016 17:05:32
I feel the "greatest of all time" is in for a harsh surprise and I my opinion City will be lucky to finish in the top 4.

04 Aug 2016 17:09:26
Maze. Semi windup merchant Haha. Singh. I agree with jred post. I think this year, any of Chelsea United city arsenal spurs Liverpool can win it.
We have europa cup on Thursdays which is going to hinder our chances. Also, I think city and Liverpool have bought very well.

In my humble opinion, I think our attack is still lob sided, we need a tricky and fast right winger and mahrez fits the bill perfectly. If we buy him (unlikely) and an experienced CB then we have a chance.
I think we'll be more entertaining to watch but city arsenal and spurs will out score us.

04 Aug 2016 20:05:49
Again HB Tor twisting my words.

I said Jose's remit will be to push for the title but I THINK United will finish top four.

AGAIN like I said there could be 5 points between 1st and 4th this season and if that's the case I would call that a title challenge. If we finish 4th and are 15-20 points off the top then I'd call it a fail.

It's so tedious trying to re-explain yourself to the same folk who always seem to have the knives out.

04 Aug 2016 21:06:51
I guess I just didn't get why you thought we'd be 'lucky' (your words) to get top 4 yesterday as if we have very little chance. Then today you say it would be a failure on our manager's behalf if there was no real title challenge. Just seemed contradictory to me. Apologies if you genuinely thought I was twisting your words.

04 Aug 2016 23:08:11
You have just answered your own question.

One is my opinion and the other is the objective of the club.

I cannot make this any clearer.
