Although the reported Pogba fee is very high. I think over the next few windows we are going to see a massive rise in transfer fees, even for the average players. When you consider Sterling and Stones costing £50m. Higuain rumoured to be costing £60-£80m. Pogba at 23 playing in a position we desperately need to improve could well end up being money well spent.

Lack of talent so young players who might reach the top are going for stupid money.

20 Jul 2016 20:55:03
Exactly, it's getting silly now and it will only get worse. In 5-10 year's time this Pogba fee will not look so huge. The £80m Ronaldo fee was shocking at the time, but looking at it now, it was a snip for a player of his calibre just hitting his prime. Maybe we will feel the same about this Pogba fee in the future. That's if we sign him of course.

Im not sure syd . Even madrid backed out of this deal .
In fact who else would of payed it .
Psg, munich barce?
Maybe some clubs have drawn a line in the sand .
Or they maybe just don't think pogba is worth that to them.

20 Jul 2016 21:09:09
Or he could end up with a injury record similar to Hargreaves (who at 23 hadn't had many bad injuries) .

I don't think spending that kind of money while the club is still so heavily in debt is sensible.

20 Jul 2016 21:19:03
Good to see you on the page Syndy!

The cash all comes down to what your club generates. If we were buying the Pog by some rich Oil Barron's blood stained investment then I would not feel so comfortable with it.

Agree it could prove worth it, I'd like to see a 5 year deal though for that kind of money. Gives us time to negotiate with Real in the future.

20 Jul 2016 21:29:24
Dodgy, I am sure it was a type buy Syndy, classic.

The fee is ridiculous. If Jose wants him we have to trust him but even so the fee is ludicrous for a player yet to deliver consistently (whatever Ken says 😬) and Bale and Ronaldo were at the top of their games, world record fees are usually only paid for players who have proved themselves at the highest level.

Hey ho, we have the cash, let's look forward to a more exciting season that the dreary lethargic fare we were served up last year.

20 Jul 2016 21:38:20
None of them clubs can afford him Jred. The Spanish clubs are skint, Bayern couldn't and wouldn't spend that amount and PSG are in no position to pay that amount when FFPR are in place. We are a different animal compared to everyone else in terms of finances.

Also let's be honest, we cannot be in a much worse position in terms of progress on the field. We are miles away from where we should be so let's back the manager, back his decisions and back the club for finally spending our money on improving our squad.

We cannot do any worse with Jose, Pogba, Mick, Bailly and Ibra, Right?

20 Jul 2016 21:41:21
Completely agree Dodgy and AJH.

20 Jul 2016 22:31:18
Fees are getting silly, so every player has an inflated price tag. If we look at this as neutral as we can I would personally value Pogba around 70/ 75 million . Now that seems crazy but he is a very talented 23 yr old midfielder and in the current market that is about right for a global star.
Point being, it's a high amount to pay for a player but the EXTRA we are paying ( and can easily afford ) is a mix of Juve not wanting to sell, us making it obvious that we want the player so badly it leaves us little negotiation.
Is he worth that amount . Of course not, he's a grown man who runs around in shorts and kicks a ball .

20 Jul 2016 22:43:37
Dodgy, to be fair, mate. There's very few guys with the wealth of the Glazer's, who've accumulated their dough, only dabbling in 'ethical' companies.

20 Jul 2016 22:43:17
Problem is that clubs are losing reality with their fans and if this continues, then this bond will deteriorate even further. How can people associate with clubs and players when they're spending and earning such ridiculous amounts.
It is beyond a joke and cannot carry on unhindered.

20 Jul 2016 22:52:31
Syd
Munich wouldn't pay that amount for pogba .
Psg prob could it was more an issue with wages in regards to ffp ed2 has said they where looking to spend big on the right man and ibra has left .
Barce are sticking with messi and neymar.
And to be honest do they need to spend a 100mil on pogba.

I think Madrid could of to be honest, but why when you have kross and modric.

I get the feeling a lot of clubs have drawn a line in the sand .
The ed said on the euro page no one else would be daft enough and I think he was right .
I think a lot of clubs would of liked him but not at that price.

20 Jul 2016 23:13:23
I agree Jred, it is most certainly over the odds, but then when MU buy his image rights, we'll claw millions back. But more importantly and what really matters is Pogba will be a MU player. A player all of those clubs wish they had.

20 Jul 2016 23:38:50
Jred/ Syd - I honestly think it would be Mkhitaryan who would tear this league a new one. We got him for a snip. The amount in question for Pogba is ridiculous, if we were to sign him, I still think Micky would be our star man this season.

Deeps.

Deeps
I think you could be right.
