Lots of debate and opinions on pogba.
While I don't agree with the extortionate price and whatever the associated fees will be I would be in favour of signing him because
1 He will improve our team
2 He will hold most or all of his value
3 there is no doubt he had all the attributes to be a success in the epl.
4 imo he will do at least twice as well as the likes of Gomes or veron at roughly twice the price
5 if we are successful he won't be in a rush to move imo
6 very few settling in issues with regards to language / culture etc
7 he is a super player and better than any midfield player we have.
The club can afford him. He could be our captain in a year's time.
I'm not over concerned that He dreams of playing for Madrid. If they came calling for 95 % of professional players worldwide the player will go there all players dream of going to Madrid. Sure Rooney wanted to go to city at one point and some still love him and ddg wanted to go and we still love him
However if we are wasting our time pursuing him then it's best to stop now and focus our attention on other key attainable targets but if its on we should sign him imo.

Agree7 Disagree4

I would love to have a player like Pogba playing for us but if he has his heart set on playing for Madrid then it wouldn't make sense to sign him.
Someone yesterday said it could be an ADM all over again, I agree with that so I would unfortunately avoid him.

Pogba is Mino's new Zlatan, a player whom he will keep moving every few years so he gets a massive fee. Pogba would be a United player for no more than 4 years, at which point he will only have a year left on his contract two at most. We could stand to lose out on him financially. Also he would be 27 at that point, just entering his prime as we lose him. I don't see the point in investing so much time, money and effort into a player who fully intends to leave before he hits his prime.
Why make him the heart of our team when you know he'll ripped out.

I also get the feeling that we are being used to lure out Real Madrid. I don't think we should be wasting so much time on a player who clearly doesn't want to be here. We did it with ADM, and got our fingers burned.

Once biten twice shy I say.

My main concern is that we need to halt this ''over paying'' for players. If the rumoured fee is widely regarded as being over priced and we pay this, it increases the fee for other players. We are currently in this position where we have overpaid for players and this is the issue we have now. At some point we need to say enough is enough. Even Chelsea paid £32 Million for Hazard and I bet he would of cost us £40 Million!

All those excellent and valid points.
Here's one against.
1) He doesn't want to be here and the only reason he'd be here is madrid backing off and united going nuts.

29 Jun 2016 15:02:17
Heres another plus, he has a lot of friends in manchester, and if he comes he knows what to expect, it won't be a culture shock.

29 Jun 2016 15:09:23
Imightbe.
I agree but is that not why DDG is still Here?
If we are his second choice I can live with that if his 1st choice won't/ can't pay for him.
Do you think if Bailey was offered amadrid move he would have chosen us first?
We are not in the position of power we were just 5 years ago. We need to get back to winning titles and competing for cl titles before we are closer to being 1st choice for players. In order to get back there and to get the best players we will have to pay over the odds and in the case of the most premium players well over the odds.
It's a bit Iif a chicken and egg situation.
I see both sides but given the position we are in we need to speculate to accumulate. That's just my opinion.

and the name is easy enough to spell.

29 Jun 2016 15:34:43
😂😂Shan. that's one of the reasons I use the Christian names of Morgan and Bastian.

29 Jun 2016 16:12:36
Our Captain? Really? Has he any captaincy experience? Rooney as captain despite holding us to ransom, then Pogba who left for 800k and will cost us 90mil to get back, next you'll be digging up Dick Turpin!

29 Jun 2016 16:43:54
Mulamno, he does not set the prices to be fair. DDG could be captain but I'm not a huge fan of keeper captains. If he stars in a league winning team he could be captain the following season. Why not? Who else is an obvious candidate apart from DDG.

29 Jun 2016 16:48:18
Shappy if we are winning leagues and champion leagues which has got to be the aspiration then He will sign a new contract after 2 years as He did at juve therefore protecting his value. Well martial be Here in his prime? Will ddg? Was Ronaldo? Come on you can't have everything without any risk ad I'm sure you are aware.

29 Jun 2016 18:38:57
I think domestically we had a position of power ken but when going up against Madrid Barcelona Munich I can't think of many times they have been turned down in favour of us or any other "big" English teams .
I don't particularly care about fees and the like they can afford it what worries me is that it doesn't work out and our super signing doesn't perform to expectation and we fall short again but one of the things I like about mourihno is his ability to pinpoint weaknesses and deal with them so for now I will trust in the new manager and hope he knows what he is doing.

29 Jun 2016 19:01:32
Ken, I take your point about the lack of other options, and I do think captains should be CM's or CB's in an ideal world. But I haven't seen any of the characteristics I expect from a captain in Pogba ie the ability to inspire and motivate those around him, to demand more of his team mates, to remain positive even when losing.

Perhaps that will come in time, but I doubt within a season.

29 Jun 2016 19:31:32
I also see that too mul but I he will mature. When France where loosing against Ireland he was their best player and the driving force from midfield. Albeit griezman got the goals. I see a leader in him but as you say maybe not within a year.

29 Jun 2016 19:37:05
Guys hate to say it this is such a boring conversation, Pogba is not on our radar and it is all ms media stuff. Its lazy journalism for an overpriced/ overhyped player and the price makes united a natural target and not the other way round. Not many clubs out there that can even look a player that cost that much. Even Bayern would say no thank you.

Even at Juve he is not the most influential midfielder for that team.
