Since Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan will solve the central striker position and right wing or number 10. I wanted to ask you guys for your thoughts on the midfield.
It's likely we will play two in the middle. An enforcer of sorts and a more creative midfielder with good passing range that can beat a man and get in the box. This has quite often been the way that Jose has set up. Lampard - Essien, Modric - Khedira etc.
I don't actually think we have two players that are good enough to start. I will be surprised if Rooney isn't the creative player in there, and I hope it works out for him. But he isn't in the class of Modric, Rakitic, Thiago or Kroos. I'm neither convinced that we have a good enough enforcer. In certain games Carrick will be more than good enough, very much like Xabi Alonso who sat deep for Jose. But Schweinsteiger is way past it, Schneiderlin looks like he could move to Everton and Fellaini and Blind just don't cut it.
So my question: Is Rooney/ Herrera for the creative player good enough and who plays alongside them? Carrick will be one option, but I think we need a new one. This I believe is why we are linked to Matic as well as Krychowiak who would be my choice or Kante.

Looks like Krychowiak is going to PSG. Schneiderlin could be great in a midfield two, not writing him off just yet.

Schneiderlin will prosper under mourinho and i do not see rooney or herrera playing in a midifeld two. Most likely two will be out of schneiderlin carrick schweinsteiger and the new centre midfielder.
Herrera and rooney will battle it out for the no10 role in my opinion.
