With the amount of space dier has had on the ball I think Carrick could and should have been taken to play that role too. Not over Dier as he's played excellent.

Dier has a lot of time, as Slovakia have played deep defenseively, but he played well. Carrick should have gone, simply in the case of a Dier injury alone, let alone his experience.

Pointless taking Barkley. So many players ahead of him and doesn't offer anything different. Walcott would of been a much more sensible squad member.

I like Barkley and think he could have made the difference tonight. But it was pointless taking him if he wasn't going to get a kick tonight. Would have been much wiser bringing another CB.
