Eduardo Vargas looked very clinical in Chile's 7-0 win over Mexico in Copa America QF. He took chances with both feet and looked a real goal poacher. It's surprising there has been no talk of him moving to a bigger club given his good scoring record? He plays for hoffenhiem in Germany, anyone have any thoughts on him?

Agree0 Disagree1

Well he usually plays out wide. I remember him playing a little for napoli and for QPR and being very underwhelmed. Not got a particularly good goal scoring record either. Quite skillful on his day but I doubt he'll go to a top club now

Remember. Yakubu scored at a decent rate and I remember him scoring 5 or 6 in one game (was in my fantasy team) but he was never top class. One good spell does not make a top striker sadly.

I remember that guy, he only plays well in international games.
He was loaned to QPR, and he barely found the back of the net.

he is a chilean version of podolski, rubbish for his club, world class for the national team.

Hi Mike,
This is just another example of how international football can make average players appear world class and vice versa. International football is all about investment of time and the coaching staff. There is no opportunity to 'buy' honours like there is in domestic leagues another than to invest in the development team that focus on the development of national players. Look at Ronaldo for Portugal, stats wise one of the worst players at this years competition. Then look at Giacherini for Italy who couldn't get in the Sunderland team. It's all about system and tactics at international level and making the most out of what you have.

Yh Yakubu wasnt world class, he was different class! Him in his hay days for Portsmouth and Everton spring to mind or when he was scoring screamers for Blackburn. The guy was a nightmare for defenders . The Original Beast mode imo, eat your heart out Akinfenwa ;)

Thanks guys, great comments, I didn't realise he played for QPR. It's true international and club football can be totally different I agree. But very often we see comments here oh so and so is playing great at the Euros or WC and people want Utd to buy them based on 3-4 games :)
I just thought that was an outstanding effort, but he did have Vidal and Sanchez (still bitter Utd didn't outbid The Arse for him) creating havoc in the Mexican penalty area :)
I'm not saying I want him at Utd either :)
Cheers all GGMU.
