With all the players we are looking to bring in like zlatan a midfielder a right winger has qnybody stopped to think were rooney is going to play and which youngster is going to miss out.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 00:17:39
I'm sure it has been thought about. We are here to win titles, not to be a crèche.

19 Jun 2016 02:09:48
If Rooney wasn't paid the obscene amount he is being paid he would be nowhere near a top team.

Any Rooney backers, ask yourselves which teams would take Rooney off our hands that compete at the top? Nobody can justify the wages, nobody would sign him, so we are lumbered with him.

It frustrates me that in this time of winning coming before all else (which I hate because football is getting cagier and more corrupt by the day), that the one person to benefit from the lapse in fickleness is Rooney. It's like in the land of thieves Rooney happens to be the person not stolen from for some crazy reason. We can't even claim loyalty is a factor because he wanted out a couple of times (one for certain) . Stupid captaincy being blown out of all proportion by the media has led to this.

19 Jun 2016 07:47:32
Watch out beast, the minister for rooneys defence well be on your case shortly.
I agree in full.
There is not one major club that would take him off us for free and maintain his wages.
I'm Not sure where he fits in anymore. However I Believe Jose will stock with him initially for stability reasons But once he had everyone onside so to speak he will phase him out of the team I'm sure he is astute enough to do that.

19 Jun 2016 08:23:09
Keeping rooney around the first team squad would be a great thing. Him and carrick are the only real links to our glorious past and can be leaders in this new squad.

But why does he have to start? Scholes and giggs both accepted they weren't going to play every game in the latter stages of their careers and were gradually phased out of the first team. A similar thing should happen with rooney.

19 Jun 2016 08:46:28
I think he will leave next season for china after breaking charltons record. He got an offer for 6ook a week for 3 years as revealed by piers moron. that's double if what he is getting now.

19 Jun 2016 09:03:02
Still one of our best players week in week out .
Just like he is one of englands best players game after game .
Forget how much he earns you pick your best players .
We will see who knows best but i will be very surprised if a top manager thinks along the same lines as ken and co.

19 Jun 2016 12:25:21
A top manager like Fergie? He saw the writing on the wall with rooney.

19 Jun 2016 12:34:07
And yet fergy played him game after game.

19 Jun 2016 13:42:55
I see not much has changed here. Same folks dishing it out to Wayne like he punched their mothers. Can we stop being bitter about our Captain and future all time record goal scorer? I mean which other club's fans keep pillorying their captain day in and day out? It's almost like its personal for some out here. He is not the player he was, but talk about exxagerating things. And of course sticking up for your captain means you are some minister for the Rooney defence league. What does it make you sound like when you can't stop talking bull about your club captain?

Deeps.

19 Jun 2016 16:15:02
jred the same fergie who nearly pushed rooney out of the club, sadly moyes lacked the guts to follow through.

Deeps rooney was a good player but today he is a very pale shadow of himself, it is not an exaggeration.

Rooney has lost his pace which was his greatest weapon and he does not know how to play without it, so he isn't even a decent striker anymore.
rooney has a absolutely horrible first touch and lacks any vision to be a no 10.
rooney lacks any positioning sense and beyond a diagonal pass to the right wing offers nothing in the midfield,

if rooney was not on 300k and wasn't our captain he would make bench at best. We have 2 better strikers than rooney in martial and rashford, 2 better no 10's than rooney in mata and herrera, schweinsteiger, schneiderlin, carrick and herrera are better midfielders than rooney will ever be. The worst part is none of those who i listed to be better than rooney in their respective positions will ever get into Barcelona or madrid or bayern first 11, so just imagine how poor rooney really is.

19 Jun 2016 16:36:20
Moyes
I disagree .
Herrera and mata have really struggled at number 10 .
Bastian really really struggled at cm rooney has been far better.

Rooneys wage is also made up of image right with about 150 k basic. this will have nothing at all to do when a manager picks a team .

Lol a manager picking a team based on his pay .

Really really poor post imo . There is a reason why fergy picked him then moyes picked him, then lvg and england manager after england manager picked him .
And its not that you know more than them.

Just my opinion but rubbish like this day after day is killing the site.

19 Jun 2016 17:26:19
Rooney gives 100% every match. Been our top scorer for years yet he still gets stick.
So Beast, if Pep or wrnger wanted him now, would you happy for him to play against us?
Top managers like mourinho and ancelotti have always expressed their admiration for him. Yet some of our fans don't seem to see what he gives.
Do I like his character or the way he held us to ransom few years back? No. But you can't seriously think he's not a top player.
Even Messi and iniesta have said he's still the best English player out there. But I guess they know nothing.

19 Jun 2016 17:27:27
jred i never claimed to know more than any of the managers u have listed above, and i have already said that rooney was a great player, he just isn't right now, if u watched the england game, especially the wales one, all rooney did was spray diagonal balls to walker other than that decent corners were his only contribution while he consistently got caught on the ball and gave away possession something he does time and again for us, fergie picked him because he was a decent player then, but u seem to conveniently forget that it was the same fergie who all but put him up for sale with his comments after his last game, moyes just couldn't follow through. Also it's funny how van gaal is nothing more than a half decent manager with regards to his overall record as a manager, but is suddenly a brilliant manager when it comes to picking rooney.

herrera and mata struggled last season, so did schweinsteiger, but rooney wasn't exactly a shining beacon of brilliance. If u think a fit rooney should be selected as no 10 ahead of a fit mata or in midfield ahead of herrera or schweinsteiger then it is u who are posting rubbish mate. and just because you don't agree is not going to make it right.

I frankly don't care how his wages are structured but it is a fact that it is those wages that have meant that unless rooney goes to china, we can never get rid of him from our books as no one else can afford to buy him, the same happened with nani, we should have sold him chelsea wanted him.

19 Jun 2016 17:41:48
Moyes
We haven't tried to get rid of him.
Why would we he has been one of our best players .
There is a reason herrera couldn't really get a game at 10 and has been in and out the team.
There is a reason why mata has struggled at 10 and been pushed out wide most the times he has played.

I would pick rooney ahead of bastian, herrera and mata and will be amazed if jose doesn't .
I will be shocked if he sees it like you do .

Lvg is a half decent manager imo but even the worse manager in the league knows more than me and you.

If you think that's all rooney did in the england games there is no point discussing it as there is far more to it than that and if you can't see or know that tben what's the point.

Lets just see what team jose picks and how it works out.

19 Jun 2016 17:59:09
jred jose will replace him by the next season that i am sure about, if not outright sell him we atleast see rooney become a squad player rather than a first 11 player. why not have a friendly bet over it jred, if rooney is more than a squad player come start of the next season, i will donate INR 2000 to any charity of your choice, while u do the same if rooney isn't a first 11 player come next season, INR 2000 roughly equates to £20.

19 Jun 2016 18:08:33
Deeps people are entitled to their opinion. What's different about wanting a different captain as opposed to those that wanted a different manager.
Your right he is not the player he was and in some peoples opinion be doesn't warrent a place in the team. Accepting mediocrity is a prelude to failure. He has been the worst and least successful captain for 30 years. Not all his fault of course but that's the fact. We should not accept mediocrity. If he was still at a really decent level comparable to the best he would have broken the record of Charlton 18 months ago but his game has slipped to a level well below what is United standard imo.
I've no issue at all with him being a squad member and contributing but imo he is not good enough to be 1st choice striker anymore and he is not a midfielder never was and never will bee of the calibre needed to get us back to the top.
As for Rooney debates killing the site I'd say that's nonsense because he takes up more column inches in the papers than most as the debates on Here do too.
It's only opinions worth debating I think some take it personally I don't. But every time I see someone defend him I'll state my case for the opposite. Just as people like yourself and jred do the opposite.
Fergie wanted him gone because he could see he was on the decline. He left him out of the matches in the run in to our last title winning season. Opening the door for moyes to sell him but Moyes never did unfortunately and now here we are 3 seasons on and about 40 goals more bleeding big money for mediocrity.
Saying he has played better than Mata is subjective firstly and secondly not a good enough reason to keep him and thirdly imo trying to reinvent him as amidfielder is imo ridiculous there are dozens of better midfielders. He would not get in to any top cl side or top epl side in midfield or up top nowadays so why should we accept him in ours?

19 Jun 2016 18:11:08
No probs .
Do you want to bet the same that rooney plays more games than bastian herrera and mata this season.

19 Jun 2016 18:23:48
Least successful captain for 30 years.

Lol speaks volumes.

19 Jun 2016 18:35:55
"Wayne is, and has been, England's best player for over a decade " jose.

Ive always been a big fan of jose wanted him at united a while back .
We know he also tried to sign rooney so it will interesting to see what jose does with rooney this season .

19 Jun 2016 18:39:33
It does speak volumes jred.

19 Jun 2016 18:51:47
For some reason when Rooney has a decent game it's considered a "great" game by the media and some supporters who are desperate for our talisman to regain the form he showed 10 years ago.

He is our captain, but they change and as stated above its more to do with a lack of suitable alternatives, just the same as England. Speaks more about how far we have slipped as a club and country when it comes to having real leaders. It's the youth social media mindset corrupting people. Rooney is hardly a leader on the pitch either.

Everyone loves him in the changing room apparently, well that is a problem in itself. A captain should be feared and respected, not their best mate. He doesn't have the intellect to be able to manage people, he can barely manage himself. As mentioned above his wages are vitally important because you can't justify driving a ford escort because you are paying for a knackered lambo. You struggle to buy a new lambo because the old one takes up too much room and budget.

We dropped the ball with Rooney. Did well, but he would struggle to get in most top 10 EPL sides now in any position. Midfield he is Championship standard, don't let the cross field pings fool you. You can see those on Sunday mornings, but those players can;t run and don't know the position either.

19 Jun 2016 19:04:57
Beast
I think when rooney has a decent game most people can see that .
For some reason when he does you ken and brendan get upset and start coming out with comments like .
"In Midfield he is Championship standard "

I can't take it serious.

19 Jun 2016 19:09:48
I would imagine the reason fergie wanted rid was because he voiced an opinion that he did not agree with I doubt it was to to with the blokes ability I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but I genuinely do not get the dislike for him.

19 Jun 2016 21:01:44
I've never said championship standard, just that he isn't a CM, and he isn't. We want you to win the league, you don't with square pegs in round holes.

19 Jun 2016 21:55:52
He has looked better and played better than all our other cm .
The same way he played better than kagawa .
Brendan won't be happy until he is sold .

19 Jun 2016 22:00:03
Nor have I bren just jred making stuff up as usual.

19 Jun 2016 22:10:27
I think some of beast post are great but ken and bren it all so bitter.

19 Jun 2016 22:27:39
Not many others get the run of games Rooney is guaranteed to get either. Technically, Kagawa is better in the 10 role, it didn't work out here for whatever reason, that's life I guess. We need better players playing in their ideal positions, not be moving a player around just to shoehorn him in. I bet DeGea is getting worried, Rooney is moving backwards down the pitch, and getting closer by the season ;-)

19 Jun 2016 22:28:35
Ken read beast post again pal.
Do you ever get anything right.

19 Jun 2016 22:30:49
Ken also read mine while your at it, the one that starts with Beast .

Then see if you can work it out .
I won't hold my breath.

19 Jun 2016 22:56:32
Brendan
Players tend to get a run of games when they are good enough .
And dropped when there not which is why rooney is at the club and kags isn't pal.
Get over it stop hating our players.
kags had his chance and never took it its not rooney fault.

19 Jun 2016 23:26:05
Do jred hold it for a week do us all a favour.

19 Jun 2016 23:42:53
It's clearly written above you (beast), Ken and bren get upset and start coming out with comments like championship standard' but bren nor I have ever said or come ooiut with co moments like championship standard. I have acknowledged when he has played well imo. But you come out with stuff like 'excellent performance' and to be honest I hadn't seen an excellent performance from him for a long time.

now excellent is subjective so your entitled to think that i just don't agree with you. It's as simple ad that. He was at one time one of my favourite players and will go down add a club legend but I don't rate him as a top player anymore. The same way as my all time fav Bryan Robson was a total embarrassment in his final season. Just because a player holds legendary status they are not immune from criticism and people recognising when their worth to the team as a consistent first 11 starter is over.

19 Jun 2016 23:43:56
Getting a little personal as usual, when people don't like what someone else feels. Strange how some are happy to bin an under performing manager, yet turn a blind eye to underperforming players, depending on who they are. Funny old world.

19 Jun 2016 23:50:52
Ken
Dont be like that . Always getting upset .
This is a united site don't be surprised when some of the people on it are united supporters .

20 Jun 2016 00:33:56
Brendan
Ever since you told me i didn't appreciate what it was to be a united fan because i didn't live in manchester.
Ken
To be fair i think i used the word decent not excellent .
Like I've said ken don't get upset, i take your post with a pinch of salt of late .

20 Jun 2016 04:51:28
Jred your arrogance never ceases to amaze me . You do not upset me. Your insignificant to me. I like a bit of banter I just don't like when you tell lies or miss represent me. Calling for others to ignore my posts and name calling and to say I post nothing else is just wrong. I'm not sure if you have been in the sauce tonight but you over stepped the mark again. I'm not upset just don't like the personal stance you have taken on this. Of course we are all United supporters on this site. It does not mean we must have the same opinion on everything. It's not the first time you have been personal and told lies or slagged me off in a personal fashion, its not good enough banter is one thing but lies and personol astuff is wrong.

20 Jun 2016 08:30:39
Ken
There are no lies pal its not hard to see i am refering to beast comment .

I cut and paste it in .
If u can't see that, that's ypur issue not mine .

Your post on football are shocking, very thin and a bit naive which is why i try and keep away from.

This thread again start with you calling people something like the rooney defence team or something like that was it?

You look for a bite cause an argument then cry about .

20 Jun 2016 08:41:21
The minister for rooneys defence it was .
Looking for a bite, then clogging the site up with just post after post slagging of a united player (on a united board ) then crying when you get a bite.

As an irishman why are you going on and on about england/ rooney . i haven't seen a post from you about ireland .
And any game that is played its just rooney rooney rooney .
And god forbid anyone thinks rooney may have a decent game .
You have nothing else to talk about, or any real points, .

20 Jun 2016 09:53:12
I had a conversation with Leahy on Ireland Rooney wasn't mentioned so you were not on your high horse.
