I wonder how long it will take for everyone to Realise Kante is an average player that played in a system to suit him at Leicester. He is one of the most limited midfielders I've seen playing at a high level. Yes he has a good engine and is a good tackler but his passing and vision are below average. I could name several players with a similar profile and we have one at our club in Schneiderlin but even he's better on the ball.

Once Kante is taken out of his shell at Leicester everyone will see how average he is. All he does is pick a safe pass everytime and would be given the run around by the first quality midfield he comes up against.

P. S. Kante isn't fit to lace Toni Kroos' boots :-)

We need a Kante more than a Kroos imo.

Kante is a ball of energy, I have criticized his use of the ball as well, but if he wins it and gives it early that is perfect. He forces opponents to make mistakes and we desperately need somebody to launch counter attacks by breaking up play quickly. Schneiderlin is similar but not as quick, so vital time is lost imo by that slight delay.

Our game will be (needs to be) all about pace and breaking quickly when we win the ball so opponents can't settle. Kroos is a player that I don't rate that highly for England, he will be lost in our fast paced league imo. Another player that oozes class with time on the ball, but as we have seen all too often what is the point of having possession if you don't have enough movement around you. Quickest strikers in the world can be picked up with 3 men marking them.

You have to think about Wayne Rooney as well, he will probably be in midfield - far better to compare him to Kroos than Kante. Because the two of them would be pinging the ball to Valencia all day long on the right hand side and not bother to get in the box!

Kante, Schneiderlin and Herrera would be just fine for me as a midfield 3, with Rooney covering. It has everything we need, give them a few games, let them gel and we will be flying. Just need a RW and Striker.

On the contrary, it won't take very long at all for people to realise that you are talking absolute nonsense. Kante and Kroos are completely different players with different qualities. Opinions vary Ozzy, and you are quite entitled to yours, but I think your assessment of Kante is way off, and he is far better on the ball than you give him credit for. He is more than just an 'engine' benefitting from a 'system'. And I think you will find he has already come up against several decent midfields and more then held his own.

{Ed001's Note - I am with you on this betty, Kante is an excellent midfielder who has been held back by lack of height, not lack of quality. He is one of the better central midfielders in the English league, maybe even the best right now.}

Couldn't tell if the OP was tongue in cheek at first, but genuinely think he might be being serious. Not sure on what basis you can say any of that.

Kante and kroos have 2 different styles .
Rooney may well play cm so kante would be a better fit imo .
Looks a jose type player as well.

Kante reminds me of Essien who did a cracking job at chelsea.

He's a modern day Makelele. I think Ranieri signed Makelele too. Maybe we should look at that Nampalys Mendy!

Wow, he is the driving force behind a 5000/ 1 team winning the league and still people call him average. What does someone have to do in this cynical age to be praised? He's top quality.

16 Jun 2016 17:12:27
He is a much better passer and offensive player than Makelele was.

I agree x and he is a totally different player to kroos kante and veratti would be my ideal paring But that would never happen unfortunately unless its at psg.
