Must say I am looking forward to seeing Martial operate on left side of a 3 behind the striker. With Mourinho favouring this (or 433) will give us a hint of the future.

Its nice to see a manger dropping a couple of so called stars for a poor performance. Great players take it on the chin and respond the right way. It might work in his favour and get more from them later in the tournament as a result. Make them hungry and give them a point to prove it doesn't hasten often enough imo.

I agree beast he has been below par in first 45. Hopefully the game will open up a bit in the second half. No player has been outstanding so far. one of the worst games I've seen in the tournament so far.

Martial was diabolical and deserved to be substituted. His work rate was nil. I think he better get his act together otherwise he won't last a minute under mourinho. Looked very average and disinterested. Worse I've seen him play.

Yep was poor. Been a while since he played so that may have a bearing. But nobody has done well for France. Giroud has 8 goals in his last 6 international games and couldn't hit a barn door tonight. amazing.

Was that poor management or good management. Deschamp will say he got the right reaction from griezman as he didn't Score when he started him others will say he was wrong not to start him great finish from payet too. A bit harsh on Albania imo but cest la vie.

The defence looks shaky they are missing 3 top cbs . But a good manager and a strong selection choice through midfield and attack. They will go a long way i think.

You're right about Martial, Ken. He just looked lethargic and unathletic. Mourinho will demand 100% effort, so I worry for martial.

It's unfair to have a go at Martial. In the first half the French midfield was so pedestrian that he was always getting the ball with at least one if not two defenders very tight to him. Evra didn't offer himself enough as either an option to pass to or as a way of making a defender commit to covering him leaving more space for Martial. I think had he stayed on in the second half when the French upped the tempo he would have performed much better. He is a class act but needs quick passing to enable him to use his blistering pace.

France look like Belgium. Great squad of players but mostly strangers. In fact that is why International football is rubbish on the whole.
Hardest job in football to be a striker in this day and age. All this BS about #10's, inside forwards hogging the ball and glory and the striker is picked up by 2-3 players with very little movement.
Roll on 4-4-2, we can then at least start seeing some proper strikers play well.

Schmid i would not worry about him all. Personally i think it was right to sub him he was not playing well he wad not alone but a manager had to make choices and he got the right reaction Dion pogba and griezman. Something had to change they got the win so ir was the right call. He could have readily taken coman off earlier too. But Martial will thrive under Jose I am sure of that.
