£30 million for Lukaku? £3 million more realistic. Such a one-dimensional player. Two tournaments in a row where he's looked like a clumsy, leaden-footed statue. To think people have been discussing the respective merits of him and Harry Kane. Not even close.

{Ed004's Note - I agree. Hugely overrated and I think a few of the other eds agree with that as well}

Agree4 Disagree0

I know there are only international matches going on but I love seeing all the snap judgements for players based on one game. Sterling and Lukaku are garbage! Let's sign up the Polish kid in midfield and Giacherinni while we're at it! Hilarious.

Morata was poor today, I've still not seen him have a good game.

13 Jun 2016 22:17:58
Didnt harry kane just look anonymous against the berezutski brothers who have a combined age of 7349?

Guess that must mean he's not the player we thought he was.

Don't think the lukaku views are based on today, think I'm not the ku one who has been saying he's overrated and can never produce in a big game.

Lukaku and Benteke would be a waste of money (wasnt so long ago a lot of people were harping on about Benteke as well) . They suit Everton/ West Ham sides, not teams gunning for the title. We see with Fellaini how difficult it is for physical players to adapt to good passing teams, the game collapses around them.

Kane would have been ideal for the LVG system, but not sure how JM will have us playing, maybe need somebody more mobile/ quicker. I like Kane and he has undoubted quality, Ibra is my preference to be honest if we are going for that type of player as Spurs will pull our pants down and Martial is a better long term prospect than Kane.

Beast,

Lukaku and benteke aren't at sides going for the title so all good.

I was thinking today about the players who look good in tournaments, I thought Olsen has a really good game at left back for Sweden, but he clearly isn't good enough for us based on watching him for years, just goes to show you can't judge on one performance.

I get the whole motd fever that kicks in around tournaments but Olsen? Really? The man couldn't control the ball, barely made a decent pass and would have been ripped apart by a Coleman from 2 seasons back. To be fair though their weren't many players on that pitch who played well.

GDS2 - Yeah mate, anybody can have one good game and you have to remember that most of the squads at these tournaments have a few top class players and the remainder are lower level EPL or worse standard.

It's hard as a striker internationally because so much of the game is based on reading what your colleagues will do for that slight lapse by the opposition. Too often internationals are cagey so no striker will stand out unless they have formed a good partnership, hard to do with so few games and often a gulf in quality.

People bang on about International football being the pinnacle, frankly it's pretty awful compared to a normal league match - Reminds me of when I was a kid and they would sometimes mix up the age groups.

El Paso,

Just my opinion, thought he had a decent game, and was making the point about motd fever. As you mentioned he would have been ripped apart, but he wasn't, he did his job pretty well and made some good runs forward, thought he was one of the better players on the pitch, but he has just got relegated from the Premier League in a poor team, so obviously nowhere near good enough.

Beast,

I am not sure it is the pinnacle in terms of quality, but it is awesome when everybody joins together to support the team, mates who support other teams coming to the pub to support the same team, I love the unity International football brings, even if the quality isn't brilliant.

Guys, if you'd read the post properly, instead of reading what you wanted to see, you'd have noted I mentioned two tournaments in a row. ie. nore than one game. I believe I also mentioned it during the season as well, on more than one occasion.

Harry Kane had a poor game for England, but has shown much more than Lukaku over the course of a couple of seasons. But each to their own.

14 Jun 2016 11:42:43
Stop judging people on one game Stevie, amateur ;)

14 Jun 2016 15:54:59
Lukaku is very inconsistent and his match play temperament is suspect. He will score goals no doubt about that but at the highest level when chances are limited I'm not sure he is the best available. He is not clinical enough.

14 Jun 2016 18:49:09
Hahaha jred I totally agree. So overrated, I don't understand how teams would contemplate paying well over the odds for him.

I think with Morata, it's more about the player he is moulding into. Right now he reminds me of Borini, out of a game for ages then sometimes pops up with a decent bit of play or a spectacular goal. Not worth his asking price.
