just read that too and although many here have been debating who we go for as anew a goalie, I have always thought he would stay. I also think he might end up staying for many many years hopefully and be one of the club legends once its all done and dusted.

With signs of our defence being a matter of replaced, this is only good thing maybe?
Could Varane come in? Stones? Manolas? Marquinhos?

Read a few links/ stories regarding ddg . The most interesting 1 was Real Madrid buying him and loaning him back to Man U as he wouldn't sit on the bench behind navas.

Just read AS are saying DDG will be a Madrid player in next few days. Gutting if true. He has a 50 million euro release clause until some date in June which can only be triggered by Real Madrid.

He signed the contract so that United could protect his value jred. I think it is no secret that he wanted to join Real this summer. But I do think there is more chance now that mourinho is there and the influence of mendes that he will stay at least an extra season. Let's hope so.
Plus wouldn't believe a word AS says.

Read it again jred. I said that United want to protect his value. Surely it makes sense for them to have him on a longer contract so that they should sell him they will get a lot of money.

If he wants to leave he would be in a far better position if he never.
He could prob get more cash, signing on fee etc if madrid didn't have to stump up a massive transfer fee.
Would he not be in the last year of his contract now .
Either way if he wants out it would be a lot easier for him if he hadnt signed a new contract.

More money? That's usually a good incentive. And the promise that he can go to Madrid the following summer. It's quite possible he might have felt he owed it to UTD to get them a transfer fee instead of leaving on a free. They did help him a lot in his development.
Who knows what kind of contract or deal he made with the club. But he definitely wanted to go to Madrid, and still does according to the eds.
That may have changed now with Mourinho in charge.

Fresh, ed002 is fairly bang on with what he knows. It's only information that is at that time correct. But things can change and I'm hoping that is the case with DeGea.
It's the worst kept secret that he wants to move home. I just hope that United can hang on to him.

Jred- didn't Ronaldo sign a new deal then off he went the year after? Maybe United made a deal with DDG whereby if he signed a new deal, allowing us to ask for a respectable amount for the best GK in the world, they would give him his wish of a move to Madrid in 12 months (this summer) . Maybe I'm wrong. But I think he will be moving this summer despite what he's said today. I remember Ronaldo after the CL final saying "I am staying". A week later he was gone.
I'd personally try anything it takes to get him to stay but if he still wants the move, I'd tell Madrid I want Navas plus £20m. Navas is a very good keeper and would be a decent replacement. Now we have DDG under contract another 3 years we can now demand an appropriate fee for as I said, the best GK in the world.
