I think if we are after Varane it won't be done quickly there going to be reluctant to sell him and they might not be overly keen on dealing with us after last year's fiasco.
Maybe if Varane is unhappy and makes it his wish to leave then it could happen but I personally feel this will be a difficult one to pull off

Varane won't move until after the Champions League final at the very earliest. He might not move at all.

He is injured and will miss the final anyway so that will not matter.
If JM has spoken to him and told him he wants him at united then that is a start and he may push for the move. the real question will be if woody can make it happen.
