So it looks like Jose is on his way. Always had my reservations with him. Not as a man or even as a manager but his ability to build a dynasty at a club. 3 years is about average.

Then I got thinking about the state of clubs when he leaves them after 3 years.

Porto won the league 2/ 3 seasons after he left. Chelsea just needed a few tweeks but remained competitive after he left. Inter was in the best shape since around early 2000's and Real had the basis of a great team.

So maybe 3 years under Jose might be what we need. He will build the platform, clear the deadwood that have managed to last this long and leave us with a solid, stable club with foundations laid for the next manager, who I hope will be here for the long term.

Is that not basically what LVG did too? Left teams and they were still winning.

I've no doubt Mourinho would be a better fit than Van Gaal but Mourinho doesn't build platforms for other managers.

He's a manager that manages on impulse.

Mourinho buys in a lot of players, they obviously remain once he has left/ been sacked. Apparently since he left Porto he has spent nearly 600m on players in spells at Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid and back at Chelsea. He is the highest spending manager of the last decade.

If he didn't leave at least a few good players behind when he left then there really would be an issue. Lol.

Is there a downside to that Shappy? He leaves us with good players? If the club can afford it and it dosnt affect us fans, then who cares what it costs? You know what you get with Jose. Big bills, big players and usually big success.
