What would you say to Kante to replace Carrick as our holding midfielder? Said to have an attainable release clause and Arse said to be interested. Looked similar to Makelele this season, who was a superbly underrated player.
It's obvious Schneiderlin isn't a holding mid, as shown by LvG mistakenly squashing him into that position on several occasions.
A ready-made replacement for Carrick is a big priority.
Or is Blind already that man?

Would prefer Kante holding then Herrera and Morgan pushed on a bit.

{Ed001's Note - why would anyone want Kante holding? He is a box to box midfielder, the exact same role that both Herrera and Schneiderlin play, except with higher intensity, pace and enthusiasm. Though he lacks aerial presence and a goal threat, unlike the present pair. If you stifle him, it would make him so much less of a player. The lad is fantastic, don't do exactly what the OP complained about LVG doing and stifle half his game.}

I think blind is the man there with fosu mensah as a possible back up. good at intercepting/ reading the game and should relieve some of the defensive duties from Rooney assuming he is going to move back as I do believe he is done as a striker (and would still argue that should be done with us too) .
I do however think we'll move toward a 433 with martial and rashford on either side of zlatan or with a right forward coming in and rashford pushed up top. I know a lot of you would say he's not mobile enough but he can hold up well and has the skill to release the others running behind defenders. how often have we seen this season martial or rashford weave into the box to cross only to find no-one there? and importantantly zlatan would offer more of a threat on set pieces, both taking and as an aerial threat.

{Ed001's Note - why on earth do people keep talking about Blind being a defensive midfielder? When he played there he was hopeless and everyone was screaming about how rubbish he was! Now he hasn't played there for a while, people have forgotten that he is crap there. Let's face it Blind's best position is on the bench to cover for injuries, he is not good enough for Man Utd and was a poor buy.}

In a team that has 70 % possesion most games, would that suit kante?

19 May 2016 08:04:33
Would you take Kante over any of our other MF options Ed? I think I just see his break up play and think of him as holding, but yeah he's a lot more to offer, it's what we miss in our MF energy and dynamism.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I would want to see more of what he can do in possession, in the creative third, before I would know if he is right. I do love him as a player though and think, if used correctly, he is good enough for United.}

19 May 2016 08:13:49
Do you think out of Kante, Vardy and Mahrez he's the likeliest to leave Leicester?

{Ed001's Note - yes 100% most likely. He is the only one considering leaving as things stand of those 3.}

Daley Blind is a more talented version of John O'Shea.

19 May 2016 08:47:29
Shane88, a very justifiable description!
Still gota love Shea'sy (the 'phantom' goal at Highbury when Arse were the sworn enemy, and the injury time winner at Anfield, will always be remembered! ) .
And Blind certainly does have some quality, for a start a much better football brain than some of his teammates at the moment.

19 May 2016 09:50:35
Blind has a very astute football brain way better than O'Shea and that compensates for his lack of pace his general positional sense is good and he certainly can play shirt and long passes accurately and quickly. His problem is where to play him. If we had a really solid back four he could play just in front of them but he obviously isn't a winger or attacking midfielder or forward.

19 May 2016 10:47:33
Kante was one of the best midfielders in the league this season and is available for a reported 20mill if we don't try and sign him then there is definitely something wrong in the club, he is head and shoulders above all of our midfielders and would bring the much needed pace, power and tackling to the team, yeh we have the mojority of possession in most games but lvg would still play two defensive midfielders, perhaps with a more mobile player like kante we could afford to play a more attacking type cam with maybe another new signing as i don't think any of our current midfielders are up to it, i do think kante will end up at arsenal thou but would like the club to atleast try for him.

19 May 2016 11:10:35
Schneiderlin and herrera where both top players at previous clubs.
I like kante but i'm not sure we need that type of player .
I think he is great at breaking up play and bursting forward .
Do you need that in our possesion based game? Is he good enough on the ball?

19 May 2016 11:24:13
I've watched him a few times this season jred. He is a stifler. He has a great engine on and does the box to box role very well.

But we don't need him really. Take the shackles of spyder and we already have our box to box.

19 May 2016 11:35:02
Yeh i think he's good enough on the ball, why wouldn't we want a type of player that can win the ball drive forward get the defence on the back foot and use the pace of the forwards to get in behind like they do with vardy! all are midfielders are very similar carrick, morgan, herrera, basti the wig mata and now wazza no pace can't tackle i can't remember the last time a midfielder scored from outside the box, that used to be one of our strengths!

Angel
That my point, he looks a really good player and is perfect for leicester's set up but would he be as good in our set up .

19 May 2016 12:44:47
The only difference between Blind and O'Shea, is that Danny has much better hair. And the ability to grow facial hair. Other than that, they're much of a muchness.

I'm not using that as an insult to Danny. Every team needs players like him, who can do a job somewhere when asked, without being flashy. It's a squad game, and players like Blind and Lingard (in relation to the discussion above) will be needed. You can't have 25 world class players in your squad.

How many medals did O'Shea end up with in the end?

19 May 2016 12:47:58
The problem with us jred is our set up. It's LVGS set up.

I think Kante would be fine but we already have spyder. We need a clever pall Player who reads the game. Kroos is my no.1 choice. Plus he is available.

19 May 2016 14:21:28
Spider played his best football with a certain WANYAMA next to him, I wouldn't mind seeing them reunited.
Kroos is a great shout.
Kante another good shout.

19 May 2016 15:29:39
Angel
At the moment lvg set up is our set up.

19 May 2016 15:58:25
True jred. Hopefully not for much longer.

As a matter of interest. Harry Redknapp has just said Jose to us is a done deal.

Angle
Is that not from a couple of month ago.
