Chelsea fan here, I come in peace lol.
Congratulations on getting to the final, just wondered what you guys thought of mourinho possibly coming in as manager to replace LVG. Personally unless he's given £200m to spend then I don't see him being a hit for you guys. Don't get me wrong he is a great manager but he's not a good long term solution for any club. You have what looks to be a great young player in rashford who under mourinho would still be playing under 21 football. Personally I don't think LVG has done a bad job considering your poor squad. sir Alex was a once in a life time manager and I believe Jose is not the answer to your problems just like his latest stint at the bridge.

Don't want him, said it all along and don't feel any different now.

I personally want Jose at the club. I know it is a bit of a gamble, but I think he would revel in the job.

Whoever is the manager will be given a £200m budget possibly reduced by any income from existing player sales. The club cannot afford to miss out on CL football 2 years in a run. If it's Jose he will not be hired with the long term in mind - 3 years maximum. Whether we get Mourinho, keep LVG, give Giggs a go, or find someone completely different the days of an automatic top 4 spot are gone. City, Chelsea (maybe), Spurs, Liverpool, Arsenal and us will all be challengers as indeed may be Leicester, once again, if they don't lose key players, and West Ham.

With expectations as low as they've ever been. Its the perfect job for mourinho. I've always felt his digs at wenger over the years have come from a place of jealousy that he hasn't had the full control of a club like he will at united if he takes over. All he has to do is finish in the top 4 to please this ownership.

I think it is time for a winner. The clock is ticking and its 3 years now since we won the title. Right now it is important we believe we can win the league again with someone other than SAF. It is no good appointing anything less than a top manager who can win us the league. The time for Mourinho is now, ticks the boxes and will lead the club back to the top quickly. Like him or not we know we will be challenging with him in charge and that belief will be felt in the fans, the players, the staff and by the shareholders. He hasn't cemented himself in a long term role and some United fans have this romantic idealism that we should appoint a long term manager, yet forgetting long term has to be earned. We gave Moyes a six year contract and that didn't work.
I would also hope the club start properly planning for the next manager after Mourinho, perhaps Joyce as his number two with a proper plan to make him no1 in three years, after all his credentials are far beyond Giggs. We should start to consider working on who may be available in two to three years as well, look at the likes of Pochetino, Koeman and have a plan for what is next.

If we look at where Mourinho has been, he has had to produce instant success, Madrid nor Chelsea are bastions of retaining managers and you should never go back somewhere unless there was a significant change in situation. The situation at Chelsea had not changed so what happened was inevitable and it is why I think he would be foolish to consider Madrid again.

Mourinho should be our next manager this summer.

Nwblue. Thanks for the comment and it is interesting. Non of the new managers stay longer than 3-4 years. Pep has only signed a 3 yr deal. Conte only stayed 4 years with juve.
As for mourinho, you know and I know that he's in the top 3 managers in the world. Without him, Chelsea would have won nothing.
So it is strange you've turned on him after half a season of bad performance.
Re the youngsters, name me three quality youngsters that Chelsea had in their youth ranks? He'll only play them if they're good enough and your youth have not been good enough I'm afraid.
Brendan, only time will tell but I'll bet mourinho will be a hit and will buy better players and have an easier philosophy than the present idiot in charge.

SchMidfield, I'm sorry but I think you're wide off the mark regarding our (Chelsea's) youth. We've got one of the best academies in the world, and the record of the youth squads backs that up. There are incredibly talented players coming through, it's just that at Chelsea, as is the case with most bigger clubs, it's hard to integrate them in the 1st team squad.
3 quality youngsters you ask? Musonda is one of the most gifted young attacking players in Europe. Christensen is having a marvelous season with Gladbach in Germany as their 1st choice CB. Lastly, Loftus-Cheek is also very very talented. He was simply never given a real chance under Mourinho. I can name a few more if you want. Boga, Solanke, Ake and Kasey Palmer for example.

Ya but what's the point of having them if they're going to end up away from chelsea? Mourinho plays youngsters if they are good enough for him. Just ask cortouis, zouma, varane, jese, moratta, kenedy. He was unfair to lukaku maybe, but i remember him starting de bruyne every match initially but de bruyne failed to impress and it was all oscar after that. My point is it is chelsea's policy of loaning players and selling them which will continue under conte. I read that mourinho gave 20 playera their debuts in rmd, which is pretty impressive.

I'm not disagreeing that the massive amount of players on loan is a bit puzzling. Though it has to be said that being out on loan is probably better than staying at the club and playing U21 games desperately waiting for games in the 1st team that won't often come. A lot of our young players are way too good for reserve team football, so it's better that they're getting games on loan.
That wasn't my point, so I'm not totally disagreeing on that. I'm just saying that SchMidfield is rather mistaken regarding our young players. We've got some massive potential in the ranks.

And it could be argued that Varane and Zouma aren't really "youth" players, as they were playing first team football a while before they were bought for decent amounts of money (Zouma at Saint-Etienne and Varane at Lens) . Courtois came through the loan system, so also isn't the best example of him giving youth players a chance.

Kasey Palmer looks a player to me

If I am honest I think it is not necessarily the manager who is fully to blame but the Chelsea culture. You have had two of the top three managers in world football, Mourinho and Ancelotti yet sacked them despite having success. It adds huge pressure to win quickly and keep winning, no real problem in that but it has to weigh on their minds to use experience to get results now rather than take a chance on younger players. Until that culture is slightly rebalanced it may be difficult for your youth to come through, unless they are truly exceptional, Palmer might be that one.

24 Apr 2016 15:38:23
I agree with that. The desire to win all the time adds pressure and probably leads to the manager trusting the more experienced players. In Mourinho's case I also think player power was an issue.
Costa was awful this season under Mourinho, and under Hiddink he suddenly started scoring again and getting into scoring positions. Fabregas was the same. Awful before the sacking, much better after it. And those 2 are incredibly important to our team. So a lack of support from the players might've been the biggest issue. It's unfair to the manager, but you can't sack 10 players in such a case, you have to sack the manager.

I just don't understand that Mourinho refused to use younger players at a time when guys like Fabregas, Matic, Cahill, Ivanovic, Pedro and even Azpi were horrible. Surely the younger guys couldn't have been worse.
Mourinho's gone now and I'll be gutted to see him managing your team. I still love him as a manager and I wish it could've worked out with Chelsea. I can only hope he leaves Manchester after a couple of seasons as well ;-) However, your board would probably show more patience in backing him.

And yeah, Palmer's really come far this season. Before he showed flashes but he wasn't consistent. Now he's added that to his game. Colkett and him are 2 guys that I'd love to see given their debuts during the final games. They deserve it.
