Would anyone be happy to see Carrick AND Schweinsteiger leave this summer?

For me they're both way past their best and if we sign 2 centre backs this summer then the holding role could easily be filled by Blind, who I think would do a better job than both of them, and Schneiderlin.

Both players are now far too slow and take up a large chunk of the wage budget that I think could be better spent elsewhere, as well as blocking the path for more youth players to progress.

The only problem I could think of is maybe a lack of leadership throughout the squad however I think with time we could see Smalling, Blind and Schneiderlin turn into the real leaders in the team as they have occasionally showed already at times this season.

Schweinsteiger would be awesome with a descent team around him. As a difference maker, he's done, but as a contributor to the cause, I'd keep him around.

Happy to see Carrick go now but I would give bastian another season.

We have too many players that would be great if the team was built around them, truth is that none of them are good enough anymore for the very very top (why Schweiny was sold and Mourinho moved on Mata) . I think players like Mata, Schweiny, Rooney, Carrick don't effect a game enough anymore, often enough for the roles they play. I would be happy to see them all go in the summer given the option, but in their defence it is hard to know who is doing what the manager wants and who is just not doing enough.

It looks very messy.

We are struggling for experienced winners/ players. Think it would be a mistake if you thought it was ok for them to both leave at the same time. Neither has more than 2 seasons max in them anyway.

Schweini is an absolute waste of money by an absolute waste of a manager. Both should go and quite sad that we have become the one final big pay check for people who all well past their best.

Remember the last time we got rid of all our experienced players in one go.

Some people were calling for that on here then as well Stevie, then it happened and people said it was a mistake.

The squad has too many players who flatter to deceive; mata, carrick, young, herrera, fellaini, lingard etc. Good but not top level and unfortunately we end up wasting time and squad places on them when we should be demanding a better quality of player. This is Manchester United we are talking about.

I don't see players as first team or squad players. Everyone in the squad is a first team player and they just rotate/ battle it out for a place in the starting 11.

Having said all of that I'm going to contradict myself and say we should keep Schweinsteiger for another year. He's only 31 and I'm hoping after a season to settle we can get him fit and with some better players around him we'll see a rejuvenated player who can boss a midfield for at least another couple of years.

Besides, given his reported wages, who would possibly buy him?

Schweini will I believe be out injured again after the Euros. He has not been fit enough to make much of an impact on this season as a whole and I can't see that changing.
Waste of money imo.

Having experienced players is always a necessity but they should be at least fit enough to contribute on the pitch. People like schweini at 275k a week has been such a poor investment and he is not getting any younger.

Also makes a big difference when you have people who have been at the club for yonkers and won things and know our ethos than going out and buying 32 year olds who are not good enough anymore in their current team and giving them one final swan song with massive pay.

I would renew carrick for a year BTW.

to everyone above that believes sweini should be kept over carrick. What exactly has he done to warrant that kind of loyalty except eat up a large amount of our wage budget for being out injured the majority of the season? Carrick, although not the player he once was, has been at our club a long time and given us nothing but 100% dedication and service, so if either of them are to go my vote would be sweini to go and carrick to remain as a role model to our younger lads.
