I have watched this Fosu Mensah lad in a few games now, he is going to be some player, strong, intelligent and good on the ball. He will become a great CB if given the chance or maybe even our next Roy Keane in midfield, he that's good.

Agree8 Disagree0

I think his future is in cm/ cdm. Yes could be like a roy Keane type of player.

17 Apr 2016 07:42:22
Likewise I think he will make a superb defensive midfielder, like a dutch Roy Keane that poses less risks to legs and ankles.

17 Apr 2016 16:01:47
He is very tidy. He has a lot of great attributes and will be a top top player. Nothing like pogba in his playing style but imo he can reach the same levels and exceed them. With him and sanshes in the same team if we sign him it would set or midfield up with 2 of the most promising youngsters in europe. I
I also think that bringing in a top class snr striker for rashford to learn from and emulate would be a great move. IBRA would be ideal imo for next season and he would bring a high level of experience and be a terrific role model for our younger players to learn from. There is a lot to be said for getting the right person at the right time . I know it would be short term in terms of him playing for us but we would reap the benefits for years imo.

17 Apr 2016 16:09:37
If we sign ibra he will start, he play the 9 role, .
Where does that leave rashford pushed out wide like cavani on the bench .

17 Apr 2016 16:28:40
Don't see a 34 yr old starting every single game.

17 Apr 2016 16:37:03
I'm with Jred, if you sign Ibra he starts and that hurts the development of the younger players. I would prefer if the club invested in a mentoring scheme where they get advice etc from a former top player in their specialist position.

17 Apr 2016 16:38:21
Or just rotate around, he can get 20 minutes at the end of a game, play a few cup games, or when the senior striker is injured. He may even be able to compete with the senior striker and oust him from the team.

17 Apr 2016 17:11:39
As an 18 yr old he doesn't need to be starting. 30 mins in games, FA cup games and even Europa will keep him going. Learning from someone like ibra will only be beneficial. Personally I hope we go for Icardi. Such an underrated striker.

17 Apr 2016 17:14:02
I don't think he can start every week Jred he is only 18 and still Has a lot to learn a year under ibra who also won't play every match would be ideal.

17 Apr 2016 17:16:39
Are you suggesting we sign nobody because we have r ashford? What happens if he gets injured or do you expect him to play every min of every game. Not long ago you said Hagee could be another macheda.

17 Apr 2016 17:25:24
Mort if he would struggle at 34 with fitness why buy a 34 year old .
I don't think he would to be fair to him, he has played 44 games so far this season and has a average of 43 a season fir psg.

Shaps have you not read his book .
You don't rotate zlatan,
You don't sub zlatan .

People always want to give the youth a chance untill there is sniff of a superstar name .

By the way i think we should buy a striker just not a 34 year who has never played in the epl.

17 Apr 2016 17:30:40
No decent team in the league can make a sustained run and the cups without having 3 strikers. You are screwed if you have less and they suffer injuries. Signing a major striker will help rashford and his career and in some ways protect him.

17 Apr 2016 17:31:01
Ken not sure who hagee is and haven't posted about macheda.

I don't think clubs should buy 34/ 35 year old superstars, imo its not how you build for the future .

I would defo buy a striker as i have posted many times just not ibra, a lot of good players out there you don't have to by the superstar name imo.

17 Apr 2016 17:49:39
Agree we don't need to sign a superstar but we need proven quality I think He could have a major impact on the club the supporters the young players and results. I'm not sure what our ego wet are interested in icardi is not one we are according to ed002 or lukaku or Kane or vardy I'm not sure who else is prolific at the moment that we are looking at so i just think he is a really good option simple ad that. Even at 34 he is better than anyone we have on the books at the moment ergo it would bore a good signing.

17 Apr 2016 18:18:07
As fans we tend to talk about the few players we know, i honestly think there will be numerous players out there ready to make the step up .
Is vardy prolific, 5 goals last year .
Where would kane be if spurs had bought on old superstar a couple of seasons ago.
Lukaku had to leave chelsea .

Some where out there there is the next ibra .

Im not saying ibra isn't a good player but he will be 35 at the start of the season i think there will be better options out there.
Moving to the epl at that age is a risk, players take time to adjust, it was the same last season when everyone wanted the worldclass bastion .

Ibra may well come if jose takes over but a lot of people on the site would kick of if instead of developing our youth jose bought a 35 year old big name .
Unless they rate the 35 year old big name.

17 Apr 2016 18:19:01
I never said anything about fitness.

Just because he plays every game in a weak league doesn't he could do that in a more physical competitive league rather than one he strolls through.

I'm not advocating signing him. But its Bette to sign someone in that 30+ range rather than someone 25-30 who being in their prime would act as more of a blocker.

17 Apr 2016 18:59:54
That's my feeling mort. In a year or 2 and with some luck plus some mentoring r ashford martial depay Tfm shaw etc will all be ready to take a leading role so if we do sign a snr top class experienced pro or 2 they could well help their development not black it. That's my thought process.

17 Apr 2016 19:20:04
"ust because he plays every game in a weak league doesn't he could do that in a more physical competitive league rather than one he strolls through".

Thats a great a point mort .
Ibra plays in a poor league like you say and plays for a very good team with a lot of energy and talent around him .
Which like you say allows him to stroll through games .
You have to wonder if he could adapt to the epl and if he would look quite the same player .
At 35 he would have to hit the ground running . that's a big ask imo

If i'm honest i'm not sure he would look quite the same player in this united team and the epl.

Does anyone actually think Ibrahimovic is the type of personality who spends his type helping out younger players? Maybe I'm doing him a dis-service, because I'm sure a lot of his antics are just for show, but he doesn't really strike me as the type to give of himself for the benefit of other players.

18 Apr 2016 04:04:21
Arrogant he is but likeable I think Noucamp. Think he's more decent than that. Maybe more prove to me your worthy of zlatans attention attitude.

As for signing him. Thinking Michael Owen Laurent Blanc and especially Henrik larsson. End of career cameos have their charm and the man's a warrior, which undoubtedly rubs off.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is people are believing the public persona of Zlatan is the real him. It is not. The guy is playing up to an image created by a biography of him, which made up quotes etc as the author wanted to make him into a superhero for a bit of fun. Initially Zlatan was furious with quotes being made up, such as the one when he was moving out of the family home which said that he told his father he would have to be the man of the house now, and others, until he spoke to the author. The author explained it was just meant to be tongue-in-cheek and not to be taken seriously. After their chat Zlatan has just gone along with it. So the comments he makes and the way he talks are not him as such, they are all tongue-in-cheek.

Having said that, I have no doubts he is very arrogant due to the self-assurance it takes to reach his level of performance. It is just that he is not the guy he appears to be on camera. I actually find it good that he is willing to take on the persona to poke fun at himself.}

Ed I'm sure that he's not quite what the media portrays but there is an urban myth in Sweden That suggests he is a bit of a person.

The story goes that one night he was driving through a region just north of Malmö, if my recollection is correct. Now he was passing by a house that backed up into one f the canals/ rivers and fell in love with the place. So being zlatan he pulls over and knocks the door. Upon it being answered he proceeds to tell the owner that he, zlatan, is going to buy his house of him and offers up a high but not astronomical figure right there and then. The owner refuses but zlatan persists, not just that night but continually for a sustained period of time.

Now the conclusion varies depending on who has told the story but most say he practically harassed the owner into signing a contract for the house.

As I say it's not necessary true but it is the general opinuon other swedes have of him as a person. Although he is revered as a sportsman and is still the main athlete, outside of winter sports, that people aspire to emulate.
