Just wondered how many of you would care if for example a Russian Oligarch or Middle Eastern Sheikh either of whom were shall we say not particularly moral and had made their money exploiting others decided to try and buy Utd. Not that I have the means but if I did I would not travel to the world cup in Qatar. It does not sit well with me that workers have died needlessly for the sake of a football tournament. I don't like it that our club is owned by the Glazers but they seem to be fairly ethical and have invested in the club as a business decision not for personal glory and satisfaction nor for one upmanship.

The only way you become a billionaire and could there for afford to buy the club is through the exploitation of others.
All the potential new owners of our club will have exploited cheap labour in countires where people are dying and despirate.
Do you think Sheikh Mansour or Roman Abramovic are whiter than white? No they have exploited people to increase their own wealth.
The fact that our owner will have done so won't sit well with me either, but the fact of the matter is we won't have a choice.
What concerns me more though is what our potential new owners have as a vision for our club? What are their motives behind buying us, and how do they intend to run the club?

Shappy that a is a very matter of fact statement in regards to exploitation which is just downright false. Granted there are those who have exploited others for thier own gain but not everyone is an evil vindictive manipulating villian like the way you are making out.
Herefordred I agree with you completely. I am no fan of the Glazers. I hated them to start with but they have did well on the whole during thier tenure. I do believe there is worse potential suitors who could buy the club and I believe the Glazers will sell for the biggest offer not the ethical offer which is worrying.
And as far as the Qatar World Cup goes, the fact the international courts have not put an end to this farce just highlights that human rights is always secondary to cold cash.

MAZE, I don't think snappy is too far wrong with that statement, I'm sure there are billionaires out there who are nice but you don't come to be a billionaire without exploitation some where along the line. Unless you can name a few that are whiter than white I'll gladly come round to your way of think. The truth is we live in a world where there is a huge case of Elitism where money rules all.

The Glazers seemed to have invested in our club to see its asset value increase. They have succeeded in that aim and commercially we are very strong, however the cost was the well known debt from a leveraged buy out which means we don't have quite the financial muscle we might have without it.
People are looking at oil as the means to find a multi billionaire buyer. We see the power that oil has brought yet some middle eastern countries are starting to invest for life after oil, will that include an asset that may have peaked in value?
I would be guessing but I am not sure we will be bought by oil money, it's a wild guess but perhaps China or the Far East and the growing market over there is where a buyer may appear. I just hope it is not another leveraged buy out and the buyers have a good intent to build the club to the peak of football not the peak asset.

I agree with shappy on this point, u don't become rich without stepping on other people's toes, sometimes down right crushing them, and maze in a world full of thousands of billionaires u find 2-3 of them who are perceived to be good guys, which shows they are an exception not the rule, and fyi many on not just on internet but on this very forum will disagree about bill gates being a good guy all u need to do is hop on to the conspiracy page.

Zuckerburg stole and idea and stabed his friend in the back to take all the glory and money, and Bill Gates did something similar.
Not sure on Elon Musk but I'm sure if you wanted to invest your time in digging about you will find several people who have been exploited and unfairly treated by all of them.
Ever hear the phrase business is cut throat? Its because it is. Ever heard someone be thankful for having their throat cut?
Just because you've expolited someone to make money doesn't make you a Bond vilian.
Consider this, a charity uses images of dying children inorder to guilt trip people in to donating money to that charity. It happens all the time. Unless 100% of that money goes to actually helping rather than into the pockets of the directors and paid workers of the charity then aren't the people running the charity exploiting a dying child to earn a wage?
Now that's not to say they are awful people, they will be helping and saving lives. But they still earnt their money through the expoitation of a dying child.
Thats the way all business works. Exploitation is the foundation of capitalism. You can't have it without it.
If we get a Chinese billionaire owner, do you really expect them to have not expoited the chinese people inorder to make their billions?
Like I said it doesn't necessarily make them bad people.
My point was though, is that I have far more of a concern over their intentions with our club, than who they upset making their money.

It's interesting and instructive to see how this post has developed. I am under no illusion that billionaires major corporations and undemocratic nation states can and do ride roughshod to achieve their aims. I know it is being terribly naive but I would rather our club did not fall into the hands of such people. I don't want to achieve success like that. Our clubs history and tradition means more Sir Bobby Charlton embodies what we should be about.
