Just wanted to ask a brief question about a favourite of mine, Ronaldo.

With numerous journalists saying he is leaving in the summer, where do you think he will end up? Reports suggest an asking price of £48 million which is a steal, even at 31 years of age - he is still in the top 5 players in the world, if not top 2. I'd love to see the interplay between him and Martial down the left side and upfront, it would be a joy to watch and invaluable for the likes of Memphis and Lingard.

I think he will end up at PSG as a replacement for Ibra, but only time will tell - Woodward wants that huge marquee signing and who better than the prodigal son returning home.

It's interesting Fresh because obviously we have been linked with Ibra but he is 34. I know he is on a free but £48 Million for a lad who loves the club, knows the league and has scored in the League, in my opinion would be a better option. Don't get me wrong, I have grown to become a huge Ibra fan but we could still get 3/ 4 years out of Ronaldo who is as fit as a butcher's dog and would also bring more commercial value in my opinion. Now, I don't believe Ronaldo will come back but if there was an option, I would not be disappointed if we signed him. My gut feeling though with Ronaldo is that there are 3 options, PSG, China or MLS. I do also believe though that if we could get Ibra, this could be another Cantona moment for the club even if it were for 1/ 2 seasons. So in conclusion to this jibba jabba, I'd be happy with either.

I would be very surprised if we brought either player in. Ibra will go for the longest and highest paid contract and that certainly won't be at United and Ronaldo will either go to the MLS or PSG to replace Ibra.

Why would madrid want to sell one of the best players in the world.

06 Apr 2016 16:00:14
Jred, sometimes the club don't get much say in the sale, did Liverpool want to sell Suarez or Torres? Did Arsenal want to sell Henry? Did we want to sell Ronaldo? The only thing the club can have an influence on is the fee and getting the best they can. £48 Million for a 31 year old with 2 years left on their contract would be decent business.

Why would ronaldo want to leave the club of his dreams?

06 Apr 2016 16:31:57
Well jred,

It seems that Ronaldo and Bale don't get on. Perez wants to make Bale the centre piece of the team and Madrid need to raise some money to bring in new blood this summer - Hazard, Reus, Lewandowski etc. I imagine are all targets. Perez won't admit defeat in the Bale saga and is adamant he will their new talisman, so Ronaldo makes way.

It would seem that Ronaldo is getting increasingly fed up of being at Madrid if reports are to be believed.

Only time will tell, but he will leave at some point and all of the so called 'experts' are adamant that it will be this year.

"I'm very comfortable in Real Madrid, but I love Manchester United. The future nobody knows. Right now I feel happy at Real Madrid. " This is what he said on the Jonathan Ross show. Why would he leave the club he loves?

I once met the girl of my dreams, turned out she was a pain in the backside. I believe Ronaldo will speak of United in higher regards at the end of his career then he will of Madrid. Beckham left the club of his dreams for Madrid. Is is not possible Madrid now want to build a team based around Bale or a future Galactico resulting in Ronaldo being the player to make way?

{Ed025's Note - very possible i would say ports..

Ports
And that's sort of my point, while ronaldo can cut it at the top level i think he will stay at madrid .
When he cant, madrid will get shot and start to build for the future and improve and ronldo will look for one last pay day.
No doubt using the united fans the same way he has for the last 6 years and his love for the club to get a maga deal for united .

If i was madrid i would do the same as i would if i was ronaldo but to be honest i don't really like the love in with ronaldo, a player that didn't want to play for the club, left and has used his love of united time and again to get improved deals .

It will be interesting to see where he goes after madrid.

We weren't debating whether he would come to United though, we were debating whether he would leave Madrid, all Fresh and I expressed though was that if the chance arrived for him to come back to United then we would like that, the fact you regard him as one of the best players in the world in your first post, it would seem odd to me you wouldn't want him at the back at the club?

06 Apr 2016 17:38:12
I would love him at the club along with messi but i just don't see it .

"I'm really happy here. I'll be here five more years, and I just want to win trophies for this club. I appreciate that the fans like me a lot. I'm happy, I want to give my best on the pitch.

"I will be honest with you -- everyone knows I was in Manchester for six years, but Manchester is in the past. Now my club is Real Madrid. This is my home, my family is here and I'm really happy here. "
Ronaldo 9 month ago whe he signed his new 5 year contract .
I don't see him leaving while he is playing well.

06 Apr 2016 19:16:12
Why not both Ibra and Ronaldo?
Mourinho would win us the title with both of them :)

06 Apr 2016 19:44:15
I don't think we would ever go for him, hardly defends and not what he was in anyway or form and people might be surprised by how hard he might find the PL at this stage of his career.

06 Apr 2016 22:40:30
I'm with you gcu. I'm not sure if his body would cope with the epl at this point. He won't get any better either. Sure there will be flashes of brilliance but he will want 3 years on silly money and will command a huge fee and I don't think we will get value for money over the duration of his contract.

07 Apr 2016 07:17:12
If you believe everything Ronaldo says jred you'd be quite naive.

Ken

I agree with you, for once, I don't see the value in Ronaldo now. He will likely have lost the ability and toughness to ride the physicality of tackles in our league after all the years in Spain. My thoughts are that whilst brilliant he relied heavily on his physique pace and power. I posted on here about 18 months ago about the problems he had with his knee restricting his runs and my instinct is he would suddenly start to spend more time injured. We should look elsewhere unless the price is considerably less than £48m although his commercial value may attract those who value income.

That also my point, i don't believe all this i love united because the fact is he moved to and plays for madrid .

But i do tend to believe that he is happy in madrid because even tho there are constant rumours he still plays for madrid and has just signed a new contract.

Actions speak louder than words.
