For all the people who didn't want mourinho to get the job when LVG was appointed, because they thought mourinho would only last a couple of years, would you now rather have UTD in the position and state they are in now, with boring football, or would you go back in time, take mourinho and gamble that we'd be better off after the same amount of time under Jose?
Just up for discussion.

Impossible to tell, so many different things could have happened.

Most knowing what they do now would probably have avoided LvG. But that doesn't mean things would have been any better under Mourinho. They could have been worse.

When we appointed LVG I was expecting Dutch style total football so impossible to tell. Having said that I wanted Jose instead of Moyes so. I think we must all see that football is about a cycle of managers, we was protected from that under fergie, of course there's Giggs but who knows how that will pan out. I do agree with a poster who said get him to manage the u21's, work through management that way, a la Pep at Barcelona and then after Jose tenure, where I think we all agree he will put us back best if not on top, then put Giggs in charge when we're on top a but like when moyes initially took over but obvs things didn't go to plan, hopefully that handover would be better. I think after United Jose would like to manage Portugal anyway so a timeline looks a good for if Giggs is THE plan. I don't know much about Allegri and that plan or what he is like but at least with Jose he knows the PL, he knows United's traditions and has massive respect for SAF am he would attract top stars.

Chelsea weren't exactly exciting under mourinho mate.

Chelsea won the title under Mourinho did they not? Second half of last season they were as boring as we are but that's because Mourinho adapted their play after the heavy defeat to Spurs. I'll say that again. He adapted their play. He changed. Something LVG has been far less keen to embrace. Chelsea played some great stuff first half of the season and won the league because of it.

Mourinho is not perfect. But was Fergie? We feasted on the table of his brilliant football for 2 decades but it wasn't always plain sailing. And it's not as though he hadn't made some questionable choices either.

Fergie and Mourinho share one incredible thing though: their appetite to win. Mourinho should have replaced Fergie 3 years ago almost. If we let him slip now we will go backwards a la Liverpool for the next decade.

There are not that many world class managers around who are available afterall.

Well possibly tho Jose has played great football, his first spell at Chelsea, Real scored how many goals, I know it's a more competitive league here but I just think he knows the clubs traditions, he knows how to play both ways, I think he will bring consistency too which we lack atm.

It's happening, Mr Mourinho is our next manager regardless, we better get used to it.

He knows how to win, he knows how to park the bus and play attractive football, most of all he will embrace United and get us back near the top, he respects United and fergie, he attract stars, he knows the league, won the league, won domestic cups and European cups wherever he's been, I dunno what else we want. He's better than LVG, if Giggs is going to be manager or not it shouldn't be next and someone has to come in between times. I don't see anytime better if LVG goes with all of the above in their locker.

Mourinho is a must purely because how else can we attract so called star players when we have no champs league to offer yet again. Mourinhos record and personality will mean some top quality stars will buy into him whereas if we get Higgs we will be competing with the likes of Liverpool and West Ham and Stoke for the lower tier players.

At least when mourinho plays boring football we get a result at the end of it.
