It's hard to know. We have been doing more of buying potential than the finished articles. That's what the club have always done really. Manchester United have usually made stars not bought them. With the odd exception and when we have purchased the big names for top money it had rarely worked out too well.

if u had said that a few years ago i would of agreed but i think things have changed.
i think we are now going after the big names .
im not even sure about buying potential i think if you are paying 30 or 50 mil on shaw or martial its more than buying potential your buying a top player.

That's whyi said it's hard to say jred as neither of those can claim to be a top player when they have achieved nothing of note to date but the price suggests they are top players. But for me we are buying potential. Depay fits the same bill.

United generally still seem to be buying young players with potential, but a higher grade of player than in the past. Still think we need a few finished articles like Hummels and James/ Griezmann for example. However I do think we're more than likely to opt for a Varane or Stones and someone like Anderson. All good players mind.

i thought shaw looked the best lb in the league, i didn't see much of or any of martial but he looks a top player now .
even depay looked very good last year imo all 3 are top players hence there price tag and all where bought to go straight in the first team rather than being "one for the future "

Hope you are ok, we all go through difficult times but the club will always be there. In some of my difficult times the clubs success helped me focus away from personal issues for some of the time, hopefully that success will return and may help you. Hope to see you more on here as our exchanges including REDFAITH about 5 or so years ago are what gave me a release from what was an extremely stressful personal situation. Keep going, whatever your problem it will improve and our community appreciate your input (as long as we agree)!
