T3l3graph reported that Mourinho wants Rui Faria as his assistant at Manchester United.
So Ryan Giggs to look for a full time managerial job elsewhere?

Agree0 Disagree1

Giggs needs to show he can manage, for me he would be right looking at a No1 role. If other teams will not give him a chance why on earth, other than sentimentality, should he get one of the biggest jobs in world football?

Celtic seem to be rocking a bit, it is the sort of role that gives him some quodos, however look at the previous encumbent after winning up there, he ended up at Bolton. If I was Giggs I would have pursued the Swansea job.

Giggs would be an even bigger risk than Moyes. There is no room for sentiment in business.

I agree redman. If jose is to get the job I think giggs should move on to try and prove himself elsewhere
But I Think he should stay South of the border and try to do a job with a championship side. He could have great potential and be as good as Eddie howe. But taking a faltering 'sleeping giant' would be a terrific move for him.
Derby nots forest qpr type club would be a great move for him imo. All Jane a decent history and are not a million miles from a Resurrection
If jose does come in for a short enough stint giggs could be in poll position if he had a good track record.

Ken

Derby might have been a good shout but they hardly gave Paul Clement much of a chance, which if I was Giggs would put me off. Would a Championship club be enough to prove he was ready, I am not so sure.

what would giggs have to do at an other club to be in wi5h a shout at the united job.

The same any manager has to do to be considered for the Manchester united job.

Get his team playing well, have a dedication to giving youth a chance, and exceed the expectations of the club.

I think success is relative. Had Eddie howe been a success at Bornmouth? I believe he has. It depends on what he were to achieve with said club. Of for example he took over Sheffield Wednesday. Got them playing free fleeing attractive football in front of full house every week got them promoted and established them in the prem and won a cup or qualified then for Europe them that would show enough credentials perhaps. It's hard to say but that sort of record coupled with his big time playing experience and club knowledge would make him less of a risk than pochatino or moyes imo.

That is why I suggested Celtic, a club rocking a bit after a long successful period, a little like us, that needs direction. If the job became available and Giggs went in then in say three years he has made a real difference, won something and had some progress in the Champions League indicating tactical nous he would have a better, more appropriate profile to at least be considered. The risk is that by then there could be other candidates who have pushed themselves forward, Pochettino for example and are in front of him. Just because he was a a United legend doesn't make him right as manager, he may never be destined to manage the club. Many like Charlton, Robson, Bruce, Hughes, all tried but are not at United level.

If we had a restructure and it became a first team coach, as it is at Barcelona for example, it might work to give someone like Giggs a chance. Then the back room stays intact and the coach just coaches, we couldn't have a manager come in and sack all the back room, bringing in his own. However, to do that we must move away from the sentimental, emotional driven decision making, "the United way" because if that coach fails we cannot just give them more and more time because they were such a legend of the club. That's where we need to be more business like and that is why the timing isn't right for Giggs at the moment, but never say never.

Clement went for an in-house issue and with giggs past I reckon he's ideal to fill the gap but they don't want a repeat performance lol.
