Genuinely sick of hearing our fans using the "oh but we're the biggest club in the world" argument.

Listen we were, but not anymore. We have to earn our place again because right now there are at least 6 teams I would say are currently bigger than us and one of them are right round the corner from us.

Agree8 Disagree5

We are the biggest club in the world along with Real Madrid and Barcelona mate, we're just way further behind in terms of being the best on the pitch. In that respect I'd argue we struggle to make even the top 10.

I agree we are top 3 on fan base, but top 10 in world, we can't even get in the top 4 in Orem at the moment.

Were the biggest football brand in the world. With our name plastered across more shirts, scarfs, hats amd trinkets than any other.

But to be the biggest club in the world you need to be able to back that up on the pitch and with a winning record. Domestically we are the biggest club in England based on titles.

But England isn't the world, as a club to state we are the biggest club in the world we need to have a winning record in Europe that stands up to everyone elses. Yet Real Madrid have won more than three times as many european titles as us, AC Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and even Liverpool have a better European record than our 3 titles.

To truly claim to being the biggest we need to address our record in Europe and we can only do that by being the best on the pitch. Something we are a long way off of.

{Ed001's Note - actually Shaps, Real Madrid are way ahead, then Barcelona. The reason Manchester United will be top of the money league is purely because of the TV money, not because of the brand. Real Madrid have moved themselves a distance clear of all the rest of the clubs, much to my chagrin as I really do not like them or Barca.}

I think you are getting confused between 'biggest' and 'best'
For a United fan to suggest City are a bigger club is nothing short of pathetic.

City are doing good things, no doubt. But they can spend what they want, build what they want and win everything going, but they will never be United.

I think people need to distinguish between striving to be the most profitable football company in the world (what we are doing) and being the most successful football club. There's obviously some overlap between the two because clubs need money to achieve on pitch success. But the biggest club in the world line has simply become a marketing slogan to sell our brand, and convince the gullible that our reemergence as an elite European club is right around the corner despite all evidence to the contrary.

Well there we have it then Ed001, in no way can we claim to be the biggest club in the world.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

We need long term planning and a whole new structure to be put in place to do so.

{Ed001's Note - it is the on pitch product that will hold you back. You need more European trophies for starters, that makes a huge difference. Everyone watches the English league but they buy Barca and Madrid shirts - it is quite odd.}

Ed001 hope you are well.
Any whispers circulating you are aware of surrounding Jose to United? Surely this is looking more and more like a realistic option?

Thanks pal.

{Ed001's Note - no mate, but United have not started looking to replace LVG immediately, so I wouldn't expect anything yet.}

ed
i would say a lot of them barce and madrid tops have messi, neymar or ronaldo on the back.

{Ed001's Note - that is a part of it, very much so. It is also because of their European pedigree. That makes a huge difference.}
