Hi Guys

Well after tonight's FA Youth Cup hammering by Chelsea it shows exactly how far behind our Youth set up is behind the other top youth sides. A complete overall is now more urgent than ever.

Bazza,

Because of one game? There are many reasons why there are going to be changes, they are doing an analysis of the whole system and how it works and making changes, they won't make any changes based on one match.

Gds. What on earth are you on about. It is not because of "one" game as you say. United youth set up is in total meltdown. They've won only 3 times in their league. They're 2nd from bottom, 30 points behind City.
City have invested huge amounts in their youth and have the best coaches and facilities. We've sat and allowed all this to happen in the false and arrogant view that all kids will choose United. Well we better all wake up soon as we've been left way behind the top clubs.
It's one thing supporting the club in all things, but when something is clearly not right, then we have to call it and make it right.

Id say the fact that they're looking into fixing it suggests they have woke up.

How many of these fantastic kids of city and Chelsea will actually make it into the first team?

Agree 100% schmidfield. Total lack of vision by the club, this is arrogance just thinking that everybody will jump at the chance to play for the famous Manchester United. We have to face the fact that you must invest properly in your youth setup. I am from Manchester and along with my family and most of my mates we are Reds. But a couple of them have kids who have joined city, why? . Because they came to the schools, they spoke to the parents and they promised to educate the kids as well as train them, so if they did not make it they were still educated properly. A couple of the kids in City's youth team earn £20,000 plus a week. Although that is a ludicrous amount of money, it's the going rate and we know more than most about that ( Rooney 300 grand a week ) . The answer most be a total revision / revamp of the youth set up. Sir Matt will be turning in his grave.

The Glazers milked the club. The cash flow we generated went on financing costs instead of on players and infrastructure. They're good businessmen. They leveraged our name and a great manager and made it work for them. They'll make a handsome profit. A classic case of asset stripping.

He would also be turning in his grave at the thought of paying a kid 20k a week, its absurd if true.

In mid Feb I'm taking a bunch of Irish kids to play at the city academy to play their U14s and also to do a days training, it will be a great experience for them, I'm also looking to play a local club side u14s on Tuesday night 16th Feb we fly over that morning, obviously we need a club with floodlight facility does anybody have any contacts? Or can anybody point me in the right direction? Much appreciated if anybody can.

Schmid,

So you say what an earth are you talking about and then agree with me? The OP was saying last nights results was the reason we need to sort out the academy, I was saying it's not just because of one game, it's not been good enough for months.
