If you'd have said, this time last year, all we have to do is beat Liecester to go top we'd have all been very happy. This year not so sure.

man united fans getting excited about the chance to go top . in november .

23 Nov 2015 18:36:41
A damn site more optimistic than the previous years jred. Unfortunately we are not the same force we once we're under fergie but most fans still want to cling on to those days. Days that we will never see again

There is nothing wrong with fans getting excited about going top in November. We had a tough run of fixtures in October and we are finally starting to become more consistent with results and turning a corner. We are definitely challengers once again.

23 Nov 2015 19:04:57
why should we never see them days again?
its like i said yesterday some fans are accepting second best .

do you think munich madrid the other top top teams have that attitude?

23 Nov 2015 19:30:43
A manager lasting the length he did in this day and age with unprecedented success? Do you really believe we will see days like that again?

Madrid and Munich did not appoint David moyes and nobody had to follow somebody like SAF. Our success over the past number of years was built by that man, he was unique. I think it is completely acceptable to have that attitude after the last 2 years of transition we have had. We are finally challengers again and hopefully we will build on that. I don't see the problem.

23 Nov 2015 19:48:24
its november leicester are top you don't challenge for the title in november .
fergy left the club as one of the established elite clubs in the world .

we have money to pay the higest wages and match anyone in the transfer market .
what does it matter how long a manager stays at the club .
what will we never see again winning titles, CL .

23 Nov 2015 20:36:54
Madrid have had to accept being either second or third best in spain for the best part of 10years,
A lot of people quote Madrid as being a benchmark for success but personally I would prefer trophy's over glacticos.

{Ed007's Note - Compare Real Madrid's trophy haul and success over the years to Barca's and you'll see why Madrid are the benchmark - even for Barca. Everybody loves Barca but everybody loves to beat Real Madrid, I expect that once Messi moves on normal service will be resumed in Spain.}

Jred I couldn't agree more mate. We cannot continue to call ourselves the biggest club in football and yet strive for anything less than the best. This is a very good team, a very expensive team and I feel we should be as ambitious as we were in the glory era of Fergie.

24 Nov 2015 07:23:08
Being able to challenge other clubs in the transfer market, paying the highest wages etc. does not win you leagues, CL etc. Madrid is the best example of that.

I think you miss the two points that I made. I find it very hard to envisage anybody replicating the success that we had when fergie was in charge, that was the first point I made.

Second point was I feel that we are title challengers now whether it was was end of November or beginning of August, where as I wasn't confident in saying that the past two years the way in which we were playing.

So in your opinion jred when is it a credible time to call ourselves challengers? Every other year we were title challengers from game 1. I felt the same this year too.

look at the every league in europe 99 times out of a 100 the team with the most money wins it .

madrid and barce who both have by far the most money in la liga have won 26 league titles in the last 30 years.

fergy won titles and 2 cl in 20 + years, i see no reason why we can't have similar success over the next 20.

you don't win anything in november.

but "maybe this is our year " where have i heard that before.

24 Nov 2015 10:03:30
Fair point regarding the spanish league. But it's not historically the strongest league? No other team in Spain can compete with those two giants.

Again my two points that I think are still being overlooked, Fergie was a phenom, I don't know any other manager in the modern era who produced the success that he had. We might have similar success trophies wise but we will spend a hell of a lot more money (giving more people reason to moan) and I doubt that we will find a manager that lasts even half the time Fergie did. Just clarifying my point that we may not find that kind of level or for want of a better word balance again.

Of course you don't win anything in November, again not the point. It's the fact that we look far more capable of winning the league than we have in the previous 2 seasons and I don't see any negativity in that just positivity that we have moved in the right direction.

Many fans and this page especially, has been doom and gloom over the past 2 and a half years and finally LVG has put together a solid team that he has been completely rebuilt.

Why we can't be happy to go top right now after all this club has been through over the past number of years baffles me.

being top in november means nothing to me and fome december it will nothing to anyone else.
no other team in spain can compete with madrid and barce because they have, like united the history and the cash .

i don't care how long a manager stays at the club munich have won 7 titles in 10 year and had 5 managers .

24 Nov 2015 11:55:44
Jred, it is fine that it means absolutely nothing to you but it means something to others and this is a far better site when people are more optimistic rather than when other posters are putting them down because they are happy to be looking to go top.

And i'd much rather have a manager who has longevity as well as success but as I said before and again, those days seem to have passed.

24 Nov 2015 07:59:29
Ed007, I think Barcelona will manage just fine after Messi, particularly if they have still Neymar on their books.

{Ed007's Note - But you've already said you think Neymar will be at Utd.}

its nothing to do with being optimistic.
if united draw at the weekend and city win they go top, do you think there fans are getting excited at the chance to go top in november .

if we play well at the weekend i will be chuffed but i couldn't care less if we are top.

24 Nov 2015 13:03:43
I think you are seriously missing the points I am making jred.

25 Nov 2015 09:12:01
