Are United the most consistent team out of the top contenders for the league?

Agree6 Disagree1

I think that's fair to say. Look at the results from the weekend. This league is even more competitive than ever and everyone is beating everyone. Just can't decide if clubs are closing the gap on the "bigger" teams, or the top clubs are just not as good as they were, hence the performance of English teams in Europe.

The teams aren't as good as they used to be - we are a prime example. Name me one team in the League who has a better front four of Ronaldo, Berbatov, Tevez and Rooney.

Fresh - I agree, but I think City would push those four close when on form - Silva, Aguero, Sterling and De Bruyne.

They probably would. But bare in mind we have Giggs to play, Scholes is far superior to the likes of Fernando. Defensively of course Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra is stronger than anything we see today.

are leicester not the most consistent team in the league.

Yes jred, I just mean out of the likely title contenders. I mean we've been bashed this season, even by myself, but I find we are in a position that our defence could win us the league as it consistently scores wins and draws rather than say city and arsenal who will steamroll teams for a month then lose 2 on the spin. Wondering what is more consistent to win the title.

The money in the league makes it more competitive. No question. And one of the results is a propensity for greater fatigue and injury. Another is that the talent is more dispersed. Teams not engaged in European competition, or whose players are not playing all these internationals have an advantage in this respect too.

So, no, the English teams cannot dominate their own league as easily and a well managed team with players who know how to play together can succeed, although it has yet to be shown to be possible over a whole season.

As for boring, I must say I've found watching Barcelona play quite boring in the past. That's because as much as one might appreciate the master class, it's less exciting than the good old cut and thrust of two teams dedicated to and capable of attack. Excessive and regularly demonstrated possession style superiority is only exciting for the club that's got it. If that's what LVG is trying to turn us into then we'll need players of the quality of Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez to make it palatable to the fans. We should be able to afford them, but will they come, especially given the nature of the league?
