I cannot understand why some people moan about signing Ronaldo.

People even say that they would rather spend £60 million on the likes of Reus who has never hit the heights of Ronaldo and never will.

Ronaldo is proven in the EPL, is arguably the best player in the world and looks to be available. We have no chance of signing the likes of Neymar or Bale who are the 'futures' of their clubs. We could do a lot worse than sign a 50 goal a season forward that will teach Memphis and Martial more than any coach ever could.

Agree5 Disagree11

im not sure he is a 50 goal a season player anymore defo not in the epl imo.
i think madrid may well sell if they can get 80 mill its a great bit of business for them .
ronaldo wouldn't be in my top 3 players in the world at the moment in 2 years i font think he will be in the top 10.
for the money i would rather buy the next 2 great players rather than the last great player.

{Ed025's Note - not in the top 3 players jred????...your having a giraffe mate, hes No 1 for me mate..

22 Nov 2015 12:15:54
60 million for a guy over 30 with a reportedly dodgy knee.

Why live in the past. We should be looking forward.

Ronaldo was great for us but he had his time and left.

Id rather sign griezmann and mane for that money.

22 Nov 2015 12:16:31
"Neymar or Bale who are the 'futures' of their clubs"
fresh that about sums it up for me.

22 Nov 2015 12:26:08
Who are the next two players though jred?

Think of it from LVG's point of view. He, like any other manager, wants success and buying the best player in the world guarantees that (as much as something can be guaranteed) .

We would have a far better chance in Europe and in England. People may say that they would prefer Reus, or Griezmann, but these players have never been as good as him and will never be as good.

He could go on for a number of seasons playing at a fantastically high level. And with a player like Martial who stretches the defenses he has plenty of room to operate.

22 Nov 2015 12:26:41
messi neymar and i hate to say it suarez.
i think messi has always been the better player.
and the other 2 have been amazing this season.

22 Nov 2015 12:41:55
How can anyone say that they would rather have Mane than Ronaldo? Griezmann is good, but not as good as he has been or is now.

I think Messi and Ronaldo are on a par, Neymar and Suarez are still off his level.

And by future, I don't mean that Ronaldo is at the end. He has a long future ahead of him still I'm sure.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, Manchester United has not spoken to his agent about the player, whilst another side continue discussions as recently as a couple of days ago. If they want to open talks with his agent then they will have an opportunity in the next couple of days when he will be in England over another matter.}

fresh
i don't think ronaldo will reach the level he has in the past .
there are a number of good players out there not just the ones that make the head lines.
martial for example.

22 Nov 2015 12:58:52
Dodgy knee and all the goals. Imagine fully fit . The bloke's proven in epl unlike the rest 😆😆.

22 Nov 2015 13:18:43
"Dodgy" knee or not. If he signs I'll be delighted. Let's not be footballing hipsters announcing players who are half scouted and half decent. Ronaldo is the best player in the world currently and he'd walk in to our side. Probably at left back or something crazy.

Next season he may be only top 5, but still better than anything we have.

22 Nov 2015 13:26:26
And even if you think that Ronaldo is not the best, he is the best we could buy.

22 Nov 2015 13:31:08
eric79 right now neymar messi and suarez even lewandowski are better than him, next season it will be worse, is he still one of the best players in the world yes, but he is 30 do u really want utd to spend 60-70 mn on a 30 yr old with wages which would be higher than rooney's, he starting to decline and it will only get worse.
The same money can be spent on a player like grezimann, reus, lewandowski etc who will give us the same impact while will be better longer term buys.

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't hold your breath for Griezmann, Lewandowski or Reus.}

22 Nov 2015 13:41:09
fresh
the best we could buy?
for the money snd wages ronaldo would cost i would say there are plenty players we could buy .

22 Nov 2015 14:31:48
Who is available that we could get then mate? Mane? Would you actually be disappointed if we signed Ronaldo?

22 Nov 2015 14:35:45
And also jred, where does Messi I rank for you?

22 Nov 2015 14:58:09
messi is the best in the world and has been for some time .
not sure he was better than maradona but them 2 are imo the best there has ever been.

22 Nov 2015 15:01:15
fresh as a fan it would be great to see ronaldo back at ot but i don't think it would be a good move .
as i have said before most players are available at the right price and there will be some very good players out there that we are not aware of .

22 Nov 2015 15:27:55
I am with Jred. Messi for me is the best bar none the best and his style will probably mean he will be around even longer than Ronaldo if he still has the desire.

Other players for me worth investing a lot who are world class talent today that will even be better in the future are Neimar, Rodrigues, Bale (although injury prone),

22 Nov 2015 15:49:44
I understand what you're saying but I've never really been that interested in what we pay for players. It's not my cash (well a rather tiny portion of it is from what I choose to pay for a season tickets) .

I also see the opinion of him being 30 and a step back now if he returned. However, he's still better than anything we have and I'd welcome him back with open arms. if only for a return of the Viva Ronaldo song and scarf swirling and 15-20 goals in a season.

22 Nov 2015 16:28:38
Bale no way he hasn't got much but speed. Neymar i am reserved because of his body he might get bullied in the premier league. Rodrigrues for me if we don't push for Ronaldo.

22 Nov 2015 17:13:26
Viva Ronaldo . bring it on . the club would get any transfer back in shirt sales alone. and also I wouldn't be surprised if SAF stuck a buy back clause in the 2009 deal. Viva Ronaldo 😆😆.

{Ed002's Note - The club don't get the money from shirt sales - is this a joke post?}

22 Nov 2015 13:09:39
Its called an opinion fresh.
