Scholes saying he reckons Van Gaal doesn't like Carrick despite all the evidence to the contrary was my highlight from last night . He obviously feels he can come out with any old nonsense now and it will be used as something else to throw at the manager .

Bilko let's look at this objectively from the outside in for a moment. Scholes and Giggs are very close that is plain for all to see and his affiliation with the club runs deeper than what Van Gaal's ever will. Scholes and Giggs obviously speak to each other out with their working careers and out of the walls of Old Trafford.

So why would Scholes make up fables and attack the managers regime if he knew it was going to make life difficult for his good friend? Simply put he wouldn't. Watching Scholes - that shy marvel - during interviews his entire career he did not give me the impression he would throw his mates under the bus. I wouldn't be surprised if Giggs leaks information to Scholes and Scholes reciprocates that by showing Giggs respect by making sure whatever he says sits well with Giggs before he says it.

At the end of the day Ryan Giggs, the flair superstar, will not be pleased at all with what he watches every weekend but he can hardly publicly damn the managers methods as it would make his own position untenable. When LVG leaves I believe a heap of stories of unrest behind the scenes will come out in the media. It will also be interesting to read Giggs's next autobiography.

If your suggestion about Giggs was ever found to have a grain of truth then Giggs would rightly have to be immediately dismissed from his position. You cannot have a member of management undermining his manager, it is untenable and why I do not believe that to be the case.

If Giggs is leaking information to his mate Scholes to put out there in the media then Giggs position is untenable as far as I'm concerned . You think it's ok that our assistant manager could be leaking information to his friends in the media ? Do you think Fergie would have tolerated a situation like that ?
As for his statement last night, the facts don't bear it out . LVG spoke about his how much he liked Carrick right from the time he became manager . He was gutted when Carrick missed the start of last season . He gave Carrick a new contract at a time when a lot of players were being moved on . Scholes thinks Carrick should be starting every game when he started less than 20 league games last season due to injury and is heading for 35 years of age . but apparently you can say anything you like if you're a club legend regardless of whether it's nonsense or not.

Scholes, an incredible player, a Man Utd great but not a great pundit to be honest.

His job is to say some controversial things so that everyone talks about it. That's a pundits job. They have a producer in their ear and that's how tv works unfortunately.

was giggs not heard taking the p out of moyes from the sub bench

and more.

I didn't say I think it was ok but I think it could be a possibility. If you think for one second a few friends don't catch up and talk about football and the going ons with thier careers then you are just being ignorant.

LVG also spoke about how much he liked Di Maria and how he would continue to be a United player. Look how that turned out? I would go as far as saying Scholes would know a little more and as he isn't part of the coaching team may be revealing more than what LVG would be inclined to.

Yes Jred he was.

Friends taking in general about football is a completely different scenario to the possibility that the assistant manager, an employee of the club and someone the manager is supposed to be able to trust, could be leaking info to someone who works in the media . Regardless of who the manager is that's an intolerable situation which undermines not just the manager but also the club.

Jred/Maze

Was Giggs a member of management then?

But it happens Bilko. Not only in football but in any type of organisation. Scholes will be on very good terms with a lot of folk who work behind the scenes at Old Trafford also so in reality it could be anyone or a number of people leaking information.

Look no further than Westminister, the White House or the Kremlin etc to see how feeding information and manipulating situations happen constantly. These are the pinnacle organisations of national identity, industry and liberty and even these aren't immune to leak outs.

JMB,

I know it happens, but if it's been found to have happened the person leaking the info needs to be dealt with, though perhaps not as harshly as would have been the case with the Kremlin :)

redman
no but he then got the job, worked out well for him .
so its like your point.

should point out i don't have an issue with it or the scholes thing i think yourself and others are blowing it way out of proportion.

Far too many posts about something with no evidence.
