This whole ex players making comments thing is getting way out of hand.

No one is saying that Scholes doesn't have a right to have an opinion, nor that he doesn't have the right to express it. He has all the same rights as I do.

But if I say something then the press will not publish it. As my voice carries no strength, no weight. As ot has been said with great power comes great responsibility.

Scholes knows what his words would do, and how the media would use them to undermine the current manager.

So I agree with LvG when he asks the question who is Paul Scholes hoping to help by saying what he said? If I had a serious misgiving about the club I have only forums like this to speak to. Yet Paul Scholes has the ability to walk into Old Trafford and discuss it with those who know what is happening behind the scenes. And to think he hasn't had a chat with old friends such as Giggs seems a little naive. In which case then who does he really help by saying this? Himself who's job now relies in him making headlines off the pitch? Or maybe he wants to distablise the club for another reason?

I don't know. He is one of my all tine favourite players, and will remain a legend and a hero. But as my mother used to tell me "if you can't say anything nice, then best not say anything at all".

its all balls and papertalk.
a manager will be judged on what happens on the pitch.
do people think the fans chanted "attack attack attack" after reading scholes or after what they saw on the pitch.

i like scholes he tells it like he sees it and most times is spot .

A manager should be jugded by what happens on the pitch, but so often things off the pitch have a huge effect on their reign. Although more often than not things that happen off the pitch are overlooked while good things are happening on it.

Look at Mourinho atm.

I would say Scholes calls it right more often than not, I just question why he calls it in the first place. Some will say because he cares and maybe it is borne out of that. But causing a media storm around the club rarely benefits the club.

Scholes is entitled to make a living as a pundit, and as a pundit he is supposed to analyse what he sees in front of him every week. What is he supposed to say when we are creating so little with so much possession?

03 Nov 2015 18:00:02
i don't see the problem .
watch match of the day ex players talk about clubs all the time .

i think lvg has been clever people are talking about the comments and not having a really good look at the performance .

03 Nov 2015 18:17:30
If Giggs was in charge right now and results weren't going well would Scholes be 'telling it like he sees it ? '

03 Nov 2015 18:19:38
Danny,

What should he be saying when Rooney is crap every week and what is he actually saying ?

How do you think Scholes comments are affecting Giggs and Giggs ability to do his job, working closely with the main point of Scholes derision?

We have a game tonight but the main subject has been the anti LVG feeling fuelled by Scholes, one of the modern day heroes panning his friends boss. Scholes is entitled to an opinion but is that opinion bring expressed so vehemently it is actually to the detriment of the club? I believe it is, it is so vitriolic it is giving great ammunition to all our opposition, showing our own divisions in public at a time when we are still rebuilding. As Shappy said what Scholes says has greater weight than other pundits. I don't remember the ex Liverpool pundits being so vitriolic about their old club even when they were extremely poor.

It is not the right way to go about this and adds pressure to the Giggs LVG management relationship. What will Scholes say if the next Manager has problems? He just isn't SAF so give him another panning, another rent a quote comment, until Giggs is given the job?

Oh and there is a game tonight not an execution of the manager, yet I wonder which some would prefer.

I agree Bilko. It let's Scholes and Neville down that they won't criticise their friends. But that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed levy justified criticisms at our tactics.

03 Nov 2015 19:12:51
lets be honest if scholes had said it about moyes no one would give a flying f.
and some of the above posters would be using it to justify there own opinion .

thats the way it works.

"There’s a lack of creativity and risk. It’s a team now you wouldn’t want to play against because they’re tightly organised. But it seems he doesn’t want players to beat men and it’s probably not a team I’d have enjoyed playing in. ”

Hardly 'vitriolic' or full of bile.

03 Nov 2015 19:27:41
Danny,

I agree with you they should be able to criticise players, managers, tactics but if they're going to do their job they can't pick and choose who they criticise.

03 Nov 2015 20:39:34
Jred, it works the other way. Why didn't Scholes say anything about Moyes? Why only when his mate looks set to get the job after the current incumbent does he feel the need to criticise the current manager? We were had equally poor performances under Moyes and even under Sir Alex. Where was Scholes comments then?

Its about responibilty, and appreciating what impact your words will have. Scholes is no fool, he knew what the fallout of what he said would be, so why did he say it? And don't give me he's just trying to make a living, he could have been nore tacful if he wanted with what he said.
