So 2 ex players turned pundits have gave their opinion on Anthony martial.
Jamie Redknapp says he is the best 19 year old footballer since Lionel Messi high praise indeed and that's from an ex liverpool player.
Michael Owen an ex man utd player says he's not done anything he hasn't seen before and nothing special.
If it's down to opinions I think il go with Redknapp in fact I'll go as far as to say we're going to be paying the full 58 million because this kid is the real deal and he will win the ballon dor which will mean we're back where we belong at the top at home and in europe.

Agree2 Disagree2

Redknapp last month said we overpaid the fee was ridiculous and a panic buy. So Glad he's started so well

To be fair we did overpay but a significant amount is ad ons so he will have to play well for the fee to be so high

It's a bit crazy to be stating "we will be paying the full amount as he will win the ballon d'or"

Yes he's started very well and he looks full of potential, but can't help but think some people are getting carried away with him and over hyping him. It's far to early to tell if he will be a world class forward for years to come. To win the ballon d'or if to become the best player in the world, and after seeing him for 4 games a fail to see how people can be so sure.

I agree with that Stand, some people big him up so much that his downfall could come after 2 bad games.
We have a fantastic prospect on our hands but its best not to pile the pressure on at such an early age.

Wow no pressure nach lol

Although its early days, and I agree that we should not put undue pressure on him, this lad looks the real deal. His passing, movement, decision making, first touch, dribbling and finiahing all look top drawer. He looks like an accomplished forward who has been playing for years in my mind. My guess is Owen has said what he said so that he doesn't get ahead of himself, and start thinking he's already the finished article as so far its been nothing but praise. But if he continues to develop I wouldn't be surprised to see him win the Ballon d`Or in the next four years. I havnt been so excited about a player since Ronaldo.

Martial has had his Macheda and Januzai moments now watch him fail, it will be hilariously funny.

Liverpool funny? Or normal funny?

I seem to remember Redknapp saying it was ridiculous what we paid and it smacked of a panic buy.

Mighty reds your buffoonery is staggering, when will Firmino have his "Macheda moment"? He seems to have just gone straight for the obscurity route.

Martial is shocking a lot of people, me for one I certainly didn't expect him to slip in so comfortably.Expected him to be more like Depay, moments of brilliance but still rather raw I think we have landed on our feet with the lad.

{Ed023's Note - In fairness to Firmino he has a buffoon managing him at the moment and playing him anywhere but his favourite position - if Martial was played wide left or right, or wing back, would he have made the same impact?}

LVG said he was the best 19 year old in the world. I believe that conclusion and we must have scouted him quite a bit.

We refused to pay Pedro's release value/barca valuation, which was significantly lower than what we paid for Martial, people must believe he has the potential to be very especial to have sanctioned that sort of transfer.

Fair comment ed just having a bit of a dig at mighty reds 😃
