noticed a couple of the regulars having a sly dig at me over lewandowski, so for a change i will say my bit.
10 goals in 2 and a half games is amazing, 5 in 9 minutes is unreal, most mental 9 mins I've watched.
will he keep that rate up ? i'm going to put my neck on the line and say no .

i think i upset a few because i said i didn't think he would guarantee you 20 league in this united team and i stand by that .

that might sound a bit daft after his last 2 and a half games but the fact is he has only scored more than 20 league goals twice, the most he has ever scored is 24.
strikers live on chances and the fact is united don't make a lot, lew got 17 league goals for bayern last season. Bayern walked the league stuffing teams playing attacking football, if lew only got 17 for them why would he score 20 for us in this set up .
at dourtmund again he was the spearhead of a very good attacking team .

for poland he has 29 goals in 70 games which is decent and if i'm honest i would say that's the best way to describe he goal record .

that was the method to the madness

He already has 39 goals in 59 games for Bayern, and last season was the first time since his first season in Germany that he didn't get over 20 league goals (he did get 25 in all competitions). Since he moved to Germany his goals per game ratio is higher than any striker we've had since Ronaldo in his pomp.

He is obviously a top class striker, one of the best in the world, and has scored over 20 goals in every season bar two since he turned pro. No striker can guarantee you 20 goals a season, but there are few in the game who would be safer bets than Lewandoski.

30 Sep 2015 19:36:56
He would score 20 goals for arsenal and city but i agree we create very little for him to score 20 but he is better than Rooney as a striker.

Now watch Rooney and Depay score tonight, which I am still waiting on depay to play a great game.

gcu
that was my point .
danny he has scored 8, 22 24, 20 and 17 for munich and dourtmund .
you think he would score more for this united team

30 Sep 2015 20:09:54
I think he would comfortably score 20 goals in all competitions in this United team, as he has done in every season bar his first in Germany.

30 Sep 2015 20:20:34
Jred. I think you misunderstood. Lewindawski would be Taylor made for this system. He can hold the ball. He can score. He's strong. He's quick.
No one is saying he will or won't score 20 a season but he will improve our attack immensely.
He'll be a massive improvement on Rooney that's for sure.

30 Sep 2015 20:36:52
danny
but that wasnt the question or the point i was making in the summer or in my post above.
if you want to ignore that and move the goal posts fine but i don't think lew would score 20 league goals in this set up.

schmidfield

Watching Rooney and Depay it not hard to improve our front line. They have both been utter sh. t. What does young have to do to get a start?

30 Sep 2015 20:40:12
I agree with Schmid, ideal for the "system". I posted a couple of days ago that I thought we would see the best of Martial playing alongside a proper no.9. Some people disagreed, but I think Martial playing off Lewandowski would be awesome. I genuinely cannot think of a better man for us in the world than Lewandowski. Not just for the number of goals he would score, but what he would bring to the team and add to our all round play.

30 Sep 2015 20:44:11
Depay needs to realize and fast that he has not made it yet, he has just started.

30 Sep 2015 20:52:28
To be honest I wasn't part of original debate, but I'm still not sure why you are focusing solely on league goals. It seems that you're only talking about league goals because it makes Lewandowski's strike record appear less substantial.

Last season LVG said that we needed a 20 goal a season striker. He didn't say a 20 league goal striker. For me, Lewandowski is one of the few strikers in the world today who consistently gets over 20 goals per season, and I think he could comfortably reach 20 goals in the current United squad.

30 Sep 2015 21:11:26
Funny that Danny, isn't it? When the weekly R**#&y comes around, ALL goals are included because someone always makes the point that he has only scored 20+ league goals twice, or whatever the figure is.

30 Sep 2015 21:46:48
He'd have been better than Rooney tonight.

Saying that Stephen hawking would have been better tonight

30 Sep 2015 22:00:09
Not to discredit your point jred, but you may want to think about looking at international goals as a barometer. Another player with 29 goals in 70 international games is none other than Niklas Bendtner. Still a better shout than Rooney on tonight's performance however.

30 Sep 2015 21:46:59
danny
because i said chelsea won the league with a 20 goal striker .
it went on from there eg lewandowki would get us 20 league goals
what is it you actually disagree with in my post ?
like you say you weren't part of the original debate yet your you putting words in my mouth and arguing a different point .
straight up what's so wrong with my op?

betty
honestly this is what's getting wrong with this site, what's this got to do with rooney again .
it will be lvg next .
i gave an opinion which i honestly think i tried to back and explain ( like i always do )
you can't talk about football any more .
thats me done

30 Sep 2015 22:28:55
Jred, I never mentioned the R word for that very reason.

But seeing as you brought it up, your man has been absolutely shocking. Again.

All joking aside, it is actually getting a bit sad to watch. He looks like he has completely gone. He has looked OK against weaker opposition, but against half decent players he looks completely lost. I genuinely think he needs a break from the game. Maybe dropping him for a few weeks would be good for him? I really don't know? I know Imhave said his best years are behind him, nut surely he is better than this?

30 Sep 2015 22:25:37
Danny
The debate was about needing a striker to score 20 league goals to win or push for the title like Costa did last year it went from there .
What is it about my op you disagree with.
Betty
Like I said the other day this is what is getting wrong with the site imo you can't discuss anything with out it getting back to Rooney or lvg.
Nobody really talks about the football anymore .
If people wAnt to talk Rooney great start a thread on Rooney or lvg start one on him .
Each to there own but it's not for me any more.
I thought my op was a fair point but let's just ignore that and make it into something else
Mort Brendan and shaps. Won't be far behind.

(I sent another post but it must of got binned just in case 2turn up )

30 Sep 2015 22:42:11
Wait, so your argument isn't about Lewandoski's actual goal tally, which was higher than Costa's last season, but about the competitions he scored in? So if Lewandowski had scored three more league goals but didn't score his 6 in Europe, he would meet your 20 goal striker.

Personally I'm glad that I wasn't par of the original 'debate' because it is beyond silly.

In summary, no I don't disagree that Lewandoski would guarantee us 20 league goals. But if we're talking about actual strike rates, there are very few strikes in Europe's top leagues who have consistently scored more than him. Therefore, there are few strikers in the world, in my opinion, capable of scoring more goals for us tha Lewandoski.

30 Sep 2015 23:10:54
Jred, don't take it so personally mate. When the thread / OP is posted on match day, talking about strikers and their goals stats, it is virtually inevitable that Rooney will be mentioned. You started the thread because you thought people were having a snipe at you, nut I don't think that w as the case at all. I posted the first post about Lewandowski last night, and it was in no way aimed at you, or anyone else. It was merely a tongue in cheek comment because he has scored so many goals lately.
If my reference tonight about Mr. R upset you, I wholeheartedly apologise. But he was shit again :)

30 Sep 2015 23:33:30
I'm confused now, who we talking about.

{Ed007's Note - Wayne Rooney's wages or contract.}
