Its time for flop & top of the match.
Not much on negative side today, so hard selection here.
Flop of the match
1) Memphis: other than a poachers goal, he generated nothing, looks like he is making wrong decisions and not improving game by game. He could have scored second and pass it to Martial for his goal. And he did nothing.
2) Rooney : apart from a couple of runs he wasn't really looking interested. Goal went on his knees or whatever but no pressing. no support runs. no heart of shooting. Improved at last phase of second half but that's never enough with that reputation and wages.
3) none.
Top of the Match
1) Martial.: what a CF play, holding the ball, taking on defenders, tricks&twists. After good days of Rooney, ronaldo, and tevez he is a player which has threat.
2) Smalling : astute defending, I m shocked with improvement.
3) Mata : dectated the game well. Chance creation, shots and lastly well deserved Goal.
Over all nice and improving side, and mostly back on top where we should be, alwaysss

Can you not do these the other way round, reading your 'flops' first just makes me annoyed and I can't be bothered reading your tops. Rooney wasn't a flop today, he played really well, good passing, good control and scored a goal, doesn't matter how you score them you have to be there. If you thought he was bad today then he is always going to be bad.

GDS Rooney was poor again today, improved towards the end as Rodio said, but he wasn't good. A few had very good games, Depay and Rooney were poor for me, both scored but if it had been a better team, they wouldn't have and we would have struggled hugely with their performances today.

Gds2, it's because people expect Rooney to score 3 every game because he's a striker and his wages etc. but fail to see his overall play and leadership.

We were poor today, terrible slow build up, no pace or penetration, blind is rubbish, and martial didn't do a thing today, totally over rated and apart from scoring Rooney was awful, log needs to go

MDL, his overall play has been terrible the last 12-18 months. His touch is woeful, he slows moves down with taking to long to move the ball. For you to say anyone who thinks he has been poor is because we expect 3 goals a game off him is maronic. If you think he's been great you need to up your standards

rooneys touch was good today .
the rest of his game, he done what his there for . always available, the option when it gets tight and moves the ball about .

In fairness to Rooney he played a lot better after Martial used him as a snooker cushion, and hopefull getting of the mark in the EPL will have taken the pressure off allowing him to kick on this year. But in the first half he was playing more like a Sunday league player than a professional.

Rodio, I really don't see why need to post a flop of the match after every game. We won 3-0, we are top.of the league, we have the best goal difference, yet you need to find fault. Completely unnecessary

Rooney only got better when he was allowed to roam further back and play almost like an advanced midfielder. He seems to struggle when not afforded space and playing in a crowded space and as a number 10.
His movement in the box is very poor IMO and he is very static. Good strikers find space rather than waiting for the ball to come to them which is what he is doing at the moment.

Ajh, when I started this I have said there are flops/ average perfromences which hide behind victories. And gets a big stage when we loose.
So just pointing both.
As adviced I ll put top of the match first now.
