This pages opinion on Blind changes with the wind.
He is a fantastic squad player to have that can cover so many positions. He's intelligent and a great passer. I'd have him in my team at the moment, be it CB or LB.

No one is knocking Blind as a 'squad player' as that is exactly what he is. Folk are knocking him as a full time first choice CB which he clearly is not.

Why not JMB? I think Blind is more than good enough to start, he has done more than most to cement his place. He has rarely put a foot wrong wherever he has played. To suggest he is only a squad player is quite disrespectful to him.

Tbf no one really knocks blind as jmb says, for me he's done very well but I totally agree going forward he is not the answer.
Not unless he really kicks on but the last game would suggest there is a weakness there that people are targeting.
It's up to the team to make sure he does not get exploited too often.

Blind will always be an easy target purely because he is an LvG purchase through and through. People say he will always start because LvG loves him and will find a place for him.
They said the same about RvP when he wasn't playing well. He too was a favourite because he was Dutch.
Blind is not the long term answer , don't get me wrong. But he has done very well for us. Gomis and Pelle caused him problems , but they will cause problems for most CB's.

I'm not really sure there is much of an argument on this one is there? Blind is a cracking player to have in your squad, he will give 100% in every position he plays, he is seemingly rarely injured, and has good composure and awareness, but he is obviously not the long term answer at centre back, he isn't even a centre back after all, he lacks pace and height which are 2 very important aspects as a centre half.
He is doing a more than decent job there now, made a few errors but nothing major, but does anybody see him getting us to a champions league final playing there which is the ultimate goal? No, I don't think so.

You are now being as bad as the other side. Not everything is about LVG mate.
Do you think he is good enough to play at CB for Chelsea, RM, Barca, City, Juventus, PSG or even Arsenal. Top CB go for 35 mil and not attainable at the moment and not 14 mill and the rest of these clubs are not stupid neither are their managers or scouts.
I don't see why do we have to accept a make do with something that is not the best solution. Short term yes but never come next summer.

GCU , you visit the site regularly enough to see some of the stuff written about Blind. Some of it completely unfair. I said above he is not the long term answer , but he has been asked to fill a very obvious void the team. From what I have seen , he has done I very well.
If you think I am making it "about LvG" , I am not. But just use the search function and look up Blind. You will see a lot of posts singling him out for criticism , when all he is doing is the best he can a the job he has been asked to do. Phrases like "he always plays because the manager likes him" , not because he is the best option we have at he moment.

Shahram, we won titles with O'Shea, Brown etc. None of them would have played at any of the top teams. Sometimes you need good, effective utility players to compliment the 'stars'.

Fair enough but my views off him has nothing to do with LVG buying him or all the other stuff people might say. I agree he has done well in games against lesser teams with no real offensive threat but has struggled against teams who actually go forward and have a go and have a decent striker.
I think he will get found out against better opposition who have better players upfront in the pl and in Europe's against better clubs i give him no chance, that view is a footballing view and nothing to do with LVG.
Season is long and hope i am wrong and he makes me a believer

GCU , your view may well be a footballing one. I'm not saying everyone's views are driven by LvG , but lots are. There are people currently starting who are much less deserving of a place in the team than Blind. I can think of at least one "legend" who fits that description , but I think he may have been debated once or twice before ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
