What does everyone make of the news the Glazer kids will be taking £16million a year out of the club after a yearly quarterly cash dividend was approved?

With the new TV deals looming for the PL and as has been documented on here some club owners will be looking to cash in their chips as they stand to make a sizeable profit during this period, I think the Glazers will walk away from the club. Personally I think it is despicable what they are doing as they stand to recoup a mammoth profit when they depart and in my opinion they are milking us for what they can before they do so.

It is well known they put us into close to a £billion worth of debt when they took over and from what I can make out from the financial consolidations around £350-400million worth of debt is still outstanding. With the total club value having soared in recent years (probably well past the £billion mark) the Glazers already stand to make an unimaginable amount of back pocket dollars, so for them to start lining their pockets annually with club profits at the moment is downright rotten in my view.

I haven't been the biggest fan of the Glazer regime, nor the biggest objector but any respect for them I had has dwindled greatly in the past 24 hours. Will we better off without them? Possibly. Are there worse prospective owners out there? Probably. Could we be taken over by someone more ethical? Certainly.

It is their club they can do what they want, they are the ones that have doubled the size of the club commercially, as long as money is still there for players etc who cares.

The fact is they are business men before football fans, they are entitled to take out as much as they want for themselves OR put as much as they want back into the club.
We may not agree and we may not like it but business is a ruthless game.
I think the Glazers are leaches but I also think they are very good business men.

From a business perspective it makes sense. If I owned a company making paper clips and it was making the money we are I would be taking a dividend and encouraging more investment before selling it to inflate the value of the share price.

Obviously to us fans it's horrible, but football is business now. The only people with any moral compass are the fans and obviously we are biased.

To me it's a sign they are going soon, so great. Although I'm not too sure what a new owner could do differently over the past 2 years, aside from replace the manager and move Woody away from transfer stuff! The money has been there to spend by a manager.

The dividends will, of course, be on top of the money the family are already taking out of the club in wages and related admin fees. But, I believe that this is ultimately just a move to siphon a few more million out of the club before they sell.

And yes there are worse perspective owners, when they inevitably sell to something like a bank run fund, this will seem like chump change. The Glazers have paved the way for treating the club like a cash cow, and its inflated value now means that we have zero chance of ever getting football minded owners again.

The Glazers have done much worse things than pay a sensible dividend to shareholders, as long as we can continue to spend healthily in the transfer windows, offer good wages and are in no danger of going under then there isn't really anything for us fans to worry about.

The 'green and gold' brigade were out to stop the Glazers taking money from the club only to pay debts and not investing in players, we don't really have that issue any more, the club is performing fantastically financially and the businessmen in charge are going to take something from that, it hasn't really come as a shock to me that they are taking a dividend and I certainly haven't lost any respect for them for doing so.

Danny,

That's me mate, my whole post was saying how much I love the Glazer's and what they have done for the club, oh hang on, no it wasn't.

There is a reason you don't hear many people moaning about them any more, simply because they aren't doing the things that people were complaining about any more.

Are you worried about how the Glazers are running the club now? They took a whole load of money out of the club to buy it, nobody can ever forgive them for that, but the way it is being run now we can't really have any complaints about.

They own the club and free to do what they want. As long as it does not affect the clubs ability to compete for highest honours, it is a mute point.

18 Sep 2015 17:28:28
Don't speak to me about mute points.

just because they have only recently released the purse strings doesn't make them saints, there doing it for one reason only to get us back to a certain level on the pitch that due to not replacing ronnie, tevez, scholes when we should of has seen us slip to a position of not challenging for anything in the last few years.once a parasite always a parasite.

I have said many times on here over the last five years what I think of the owners and what they quite legitamately have done to the club. The dividends are just the lastest frustration to the fans of our club. I hope the Ed was right and they go in 2017 if not sooner, the sooner the better, and can only hope it is not another leveraged buy out.

It may only be £15m but it is another £15m that will not be invested in the infrastructure of our club at a time when City are heavily investing. It smacks of short termism. To me it means City will overtake us at some point in the near future and it will because of the overall chronic under investment during the Glazer years in the development of infrastructure, our stadium and the youth at our club. Ask yourselves whether Sheikh Mansour is taking dividends?
