jred, I saw your comment about Schweinsteiger's legs having gone which might be true. How about Rooney, have his gone as well? He did well against Briges but in the League games he has been a long way off the pace

looks like there starting to pal .
bastian looks shot tho, been a great player but looks very heavy and looked like he was running backwards the other day .

03 Sep 2015 18:19:13
It's am interesting one isn't it. LVG likes and knows him, he is a proven winner and I am sure he will have a huge impact in the dressing room but he doesn't look fit. Some pole have raved about him so far and whilst he oozes class I'm not sure he will be the dominant presence we are hoping for. I'm still glad we signed him though, particularly if we are going to promote a couple of youngsters. He may well have the Cantona effect on them

Everything about Rooney's game is going, pretty fast by recent performances. Bastian is lucky he has the first 5 yards in his head, otherwise he would struggle more I think. Rooney, unfortunately doesn't have that luxury.

i read bastian has got his own fitness coach to come over which i find strange if true .
i think the ed touched on it down the page but bastian is said to be the highest earner in the epl , its looking like one last payday at the moment .

what your take on ddg ?

Great goalkeeper, I defended him at the beginning to near enough everyone I talked to about him, I said he would become the keeper he has, to much laughter. But, as I said at the end of last season, he should be made to see out the last year of his contract, if he won't sign the contract on offer, then he can go where he likes. I wouldn't offer more in wages than the going rate for a top keeper, just to please him, and I wouldn't have wanted him sold for peanuts either. He needs to perform to get to Euro 2016, the Spain manager has confirmed this now too. Get him back, get him in goal and let's see where we can finish this season.

im surprised i though you wouldn't want him in a united shirt again

03 Sep 2015 19:58:29
If this is a Rooney thing, I would have done the same with him the first time, he was worth his place then, and was under contract. Players have too much power, teams and managers need to take some back, in my eyes.

03 Sep 2015 20:26:24
Why not jred? I struggle to understand fans that don't think he deserves to be in a utd shirt again (I'm not saying you, just some of the fans in general) because he wants to go back home. He has been the consummate professional whilst at UTD and I think will continue to be once he is back between the posts which I hope will be against Liverpool. I wouldn't begrudge him his opportunity to return home.

ive no issue with ddg playing for united in fact the sooner the better.

but people have used the rooney pushing for a pay rise as stick to beat him with for years . it makes me wonder how they feel about ddg trying to leave infact agreeing to sign for another team .
i have a feeling it won't be quite as big an issue

DDG wanting to go home for reported less money where his girl friend lives and family lives and rooney wanting to leave for money are so different mate. I have never had an issue with DDG during this whole saga but had major issues with rooney when it was going on.

DDG has conducted himself extraordinary when compared to the shit rooney's agent was coming out with.

I hope to see him starting against pool, a bad ddg for a few games is till miles better than Romero.

one wanted to leave , one wanted a pay rise.
i don't have an issue with either , but like i say people who have gone on and on about rooney pushing for pay rise will suddenly have a change of heart when it comes to ddg.

its a simple example of the double standards people have when it comes to rooney.

One wanting to go back to his home country and one ready to sign for the blue half for more money are completely different mate. I know you like Rooney a lot but let's not confuse apples and oranges.

03 Sep 2015 22:03:33
Roy Keane did exactly what Rooney did and held the club to ransom and got a bigger percentage wage increase than Rooney did but it rarely gets mentioned by the those that slag off Rooney. Double standards. Its the same people that were uptight about what di Maria did but were happy when berbatov did likewise to spurs when coming to us. double standards bias and hypocrisy.
I don't dislike Rooney I think he has done great for the club over a long period but he never fulfilled his potential and while he will finish with some records and some medals he is guilty of never being as good as he could have been if he had applied himself like Ronaldo necks scholes Neville or giggs and that is a real shame nevertheless he has had a career many would kill for. He will still score 25 in all comps this season or damn close.

ddg wants to play for another club end of, and probably will next season .
if he wanted to go home he could go to athletico, but i think he wants to go and play for madrid like most players do .
like i say i have no issue with it at all that's football.
ronaldo wanted to leave , again I've no issue .
rooney stayed and has been at the club for 11 years he pushed for a contract but like i say that's football.

i just don't see how people can get on the moral high ground over a player who has put 11 years in at the club .
and then be fine with ddg .

like i say i don't really have an issue with either to be honest

03 Sep 2015 22:08:46
should also say the fact that ddg is such a good player is the reason people will look the other way.
if young or fellaini had done the same people would them out the club .

its the double standards that does my head in

03 Sep 2015 22:08:52
Who hasn't wanted a pay rise though? They were fans as kids but it's a job now. I have no issues with either and in Rooney's case the club could've said no.

2 completely different cases mate that's all. One threatens to leave unless offered more money one just wants to go back to his home country and play for an iconic club with major consideration given too the fact that his family and girlfriend being there.

Nothing wrong with wanting more money and Rooney has never hidden that, 2 times he has gone down that road and gotten what he wants.

Trying to make rooney's case and DDG as being the same is a bit of a stretch lol.

03 Sep 2015 22:57:12
I gave Rooney the benefit of the doubt first time, as I have said many times. Footballers are quite dim, on the whole, so they need a chance. Twice was a step too far for me. He should have been made to see out his contract, as should De Gea, and then allowed to leave, if he wasn't happy. Let's face it, he has done nothing to warrant it since he signed it.
