My view on Louie van gaal is split. It cannot be argued that he has generally had success where ever he has managed, but I don't think he can be viewed as one of the games great managers.

To qualify as a great I believe that much like great players you need to achieve consistent performances over a sustained period. This is something LVG has failed to do.

He is good at restructuring a club, has tactical sweetness, but is not a great manager. If you can't manage people or motivate them you will never have sustained success. Fergie was arrogant, could be abrasive and stubborn, but he knew when to tailor his behaviour to the circumstances and hence achieved greatness.

LVG not so much. Hence he is a short term solution and the sooner his tenor is over the better from an entertainment perspective. He will leave our club better than he found it (more balanced squad) and with under performing players moved on, but I don't think he will be missed.

With all the money he has spent I could leave the club better than I found it.

Your main compliment to LVG is he will leave us better than when he took over (which is expected considering he has spent obscene amounts of cash) but If we finished sixth this season Huggy would you stand by that statement?

Looking back, you can actually see who the great managers were. They were greats that spent a bit of cash to assemble what they needed, but not spend insane amounts and still don't have what they needed.

For getting rid of Evans, Cleverly, Anderson etc I will be eternally grateful.
All he needs to do in my book is get rid of Jones and I will be very happy.

I don't like LVG, I don't like his 1 dimensional football and I can't wait for him to be gone, but if we are honest our football started getting slow and boring in Fergies final years and the likes of cleverly, Evans, Anderson etc should have been dumped then.

For all the bad at least the crap has been flushed we have a much better midfield albeit 2/3 are pensioners that need replaced in a year or two, but better than what we had. We have an excellent rb that Chelsea were interested in. I would rather have him than pedro.

I would rather have ancellotti, guardiola or klopp. I think 90% of what he is doing is wrong, but I am grateful for the 10% he is doing right.

Out of curiosity who do you consider the truly great managers?

Mort,

Some you will have heard of some you won't. I rate some for taking low profile teams to success, some for being serial winners.
In no particular order Albert batteux with stade de raim and St Etienne, guus hiddink with PSV, rinus Michels with Ajax, barca and fc koln, as much as it pains me to say Bob Paisley, Ernst happel, ottmar hitzfeld, jock stein and let's not forget fergie

Huggy Pedro isn't a RB. He wouldve been a great signing for us on the right wing this season, allowing mata to go to number 10 to feed rooney better than what he's currently getting.

Huggy

He is the wrong manager for our club and with the money at his disposal ad how we have deposed of players most decent managers would have us playing better and a unified squad. If people believe he has the players backing they are delusional. He is a ticking bomb and whilst some are his darlings the majority will probably be delighted to see him go.

It is not a coincidence so many of his ex player dislike him and publicly go out and say it. Anyways stuck with him till the end of this season i guess. I think we will make a change unless we have an incredible CL run and contend for the Pl title. Hey we might even get a manger who gets off his a. s during the game.
