utd supporter all my life if we bid what the rags are saying for neymar il burn.my utd shirt we have sold our soul

Agree2 Disagree9

I think Neymar is doing what Ramos did and using us to get an improvement in contract terms however it isn't our money and for me I support the team not our bank balance so recommend keeping your shirt. After all burning it seems like a bit of a Scouse thing to do when your captain angles for a transfer to a London club.

25 Aug 2015 07:17:28
We have already sold our soul. Do not kid yourself. Who was the last major player United made?

We are not better than City, Chelsea and Madrid etc.

25 Aug 2015 07:51:19
Maze you are so negatives bloody 99.9 percent of the time. You need a holiday buddy.

25 Aug 2015 08:02:19
Haha burn your shirt because you've believed some nonsense in a newspaper, you even called it a 'rag' yourself. To do well these days you have to sell money, remember 5 years ago we had people wearing green and gold because the glazers wouldn't spend anything, now they are believing they will do the opposite and threatening to burn their shirt. Need to make your mind up, do you want a successful club?

25 Aug 2015 08:18:53
Singh why am I negative now? For spouting the truth?

Shame on me!

25 Aug 2015 08:20:12
Theres not too many home grown players at City, Chelsea or Madrid. That's football these days. The last manager of a top club to be given time was SAF. That won't happen again!!!

25 Aug 2015 08:52:27
Spouting the truth? United have generated their own money, even when when we were in lots of debt, Chelsea and City have been bank rolled by a sugar daddy. For 3748 consecutive first team games dating back to 1937 there has been a youth product in the first team match day squad. Yes things have changed but that is the world of football today but we can still maintain a degree of morals and ethics. You certainly spout something on this site JMB but the truth is far from it.

25 Aug 2015 09:26:35
In this particular case I agree with JMB. We all naturally have an arrogance with our team because we've been the best for so long partly because we had an exceptionally unique scenario where 5 or so players came through our youth team together and we were brave enough (because the expectation wasn't as high as it is now) to play them all and they all were brilliant. I do wonder if we had the same 5 players coming through the youth team now would they make it? I personally doubt it. Risk would be too high.

Football has changed and to be in with a shout of winning it you have to be spending similar amounts as the other top spenders. How they got their money and how we got out money is irrelevant to me as it should be to you, I'm not going to start going to business meetings and cheering on Ed Woodward while he gives presentations.

Only change I would make to JMB's post is to add Barca to those list of teams that 'sold their soul'. They are coming to the end of their own 'class of 92' with Xavi moving on and Iniesta getting older and they have learnt from our error by spending big before it's too late (Suarez, Neymar, Rakitic and not long from now I'd bet Pogba) rather than trying to keep up with budget signings like Valencia and Owen. Football HAS changed and if you want to play with the big boys you have to 'sell your soul'.

Bryan robson . Keane ferdinand rvn rvp pallister veron di maria rooney to name a few . We have always spent top money on top players. We are doing what we have always done but now we have more competition and the prices have turned to telephone numbers but our strategy has always been to buy the best available when needed. So what has changed in that regard? You maze / jmb / rollo have sold your sole by reincarnating yourself into several posters. Pretty sad individual really

25 Aug 2015 11:18:56
I know I usually like to disagree with JMB :) , but he is right. We are no different now than Chelsea or City in terms of throwing money around.
The only difference , albeit a significant one , is that we are spending our own money. Not money injected by a rich individual.
The time that we could take the moral high ground has long gone.

25 Aug 2015 11:19:47
Tried the Ramos/ Neymar trick at work. Boss Man Utd are interested in me, think you'll have to give me a substantial pay rise. Just on my way to the job centre.

25 Aug 2015 11:30:07
So what you are saying ken is you agree with my post?

25 Aug 2015 12:19:21
Betty,

We have to spend money though, I don't really understand the people that say we are throwing money around like it is a bad thing, if we didn't spend money we would be nowhere near the top 4 this season, it is how football has gone now, fortunately United have got ourselves into a position to spend it.

25 Aug 2015 15:44:38
GDS, Yeah I take your point. I perhaps didn't explain mine very well. My issue is not necessarily spending the money , but more the fact we have to resort to offering ridiculous fees and wages just to attract top players , or making "statement" signings just to show that we can compete.
Sensible investment 5,6,7 years ago would have negated the need to adopt our current policy of paying over the odds for players.
But hey , that's history now.

25 Aug 2015 16:10:47
betty,

Agree 100%, we are paying for poor investment a few years ago but like you say, sod all we can do about that now.
