As monstrously obviously as the fact we need a striker is. 0 goals conceded in 3 PL games. There's positives if you look for them boys!

Harry - it should also be Morgan, Michael & Bastian - we have 6 defenders. This is also why we don't score a lot.

Agree the back 4 looks the most solid it has for a fair few seasons however, it is clear this team be it set up philosophy or squad will not get the amount of goals required to achieve anything this season. Against the big Eurooean team we will need speed and quality in front of goal and we have neither.

They have been sensational, Smalling has been nothing short of world class and if he stays fit (which he has struggled to do so far in his career) then what a player we have on our hands. Shaw and Darmian have also both been fantastic, going forward and defending, too many posts saying the same thing over and over and not enough appreciating what we already have at the moment.

Don't get too excited about the defence just yet. We haven't played anyone that should be scoring against us yet.

GDS2 - Can always rely on you to back up my positivity :-) Defensively brilliant past 4 games. Yet you won't see someone mention it.

GDS2 I agree Smalling has been a revelation for the past few months but he will never be World Class.
Beast you also make a good point RE: 6 defenders with the lads in the middle. It will be very interesting to see how these 6 get on throughout the season.

I don't see how Smalling could have been any better the last 4 games, Hummels wouldn't have done better than him, he hasn't put a foot wrong, so in my opinion his performances have been world class.

From a defensive aspect, Smalling can and will be considered world class if he stays fit and maintains his current level IMO.
