First time poster- Not exactly earth shattering but the last 7-8 years I do business with a lad who is quite close to James Wilson in as much as he would meet up with him 2 x per month usually, that sort of relationship .Right at the end of last season I said with Falcao off and possibly rvp and Chico will he get a chance ? The answer was he felt unsettled, best way to explain it he doesn't feel really like part of the first team but is told he is then he feels a bit left out after games as if he's not really contributed no matter how good or bad he's been. Anyway, my oppo is dicreet and loyal he doesn't talk out of turn and when it came to discussing a loan he said that would upset him, he's united through and through and rightly or wrongly he feels a loan these days is first step to the exit door. Had reason to speak with this lad this week and mentioned USA tour and I said what's James feeling now and he said nothings changed . he s unsettled and of course this month could see a big signing come in and put a real spin on his world. I said it wasnt earth shattering but I can only tell you its genuine.

Interesting. But I think the kids of today want it all and want it immediately.
Wilson is a good young talent. Nothing more nothing less. In order for him to be a part of the first team setup, he needs to carry on working hard and learning from the manager and senior players. There's no shortcut I'm afraid.

I agree with SchMidfield, but in Wilson's defence it must be the most infuriating thing in the world knowing that if you score a hat-trick and perform miracles you will still be dropped the next game if Rooney is fit. Can't blame him for feeling unsettled, just like Welbeck was - you only have one career and if you aren't being judged fairly, get out whilst you can.

James Wilson is obviously a great prospect for us, one for the future. Its too early to feel disheartened. To be selected regularly at this level, he needs to keep putting top class performances, but to be fair, he hasn't really done what he used to be doing before coming to the first team. Its clear Perreira, Januzaj and Lingard are having great end products to their game. And I think Wilson is missing a wee bit of decision making with his gameplay. At this level, that can be unforgiving. But he is so young. This is the time to learn and put things right, working hard but also working the right ways and see where things are going wrong. You should tell him to keep working harder. Van Gaal will trust him only when he trusts his own abilities. And his ability is for everyone to see. He just needs to up his game.

Wilson seems to have stuck just below first team level. It is now when we find out whether he will make it at the top. I watched him score goals for the reserves and he glided across the ground and looked to have tremendous potential. The step up is mental and physical and I think this season is where we will find out if he can do it. If the above post is true then mentally he may not be up to first team football at the highest level. You need the whole package to succeed, self confidence and being able to learn.
I am surprised we haven't tried to get him a good loan where he will play first team football, toughen him up physically and mentally.
Sadly not every talented kid makes it and some develop late when they are mentally better tuned. Wilson has time yet but the signs have not been great.
